It sounds like you've been dealing with nasal polyps and asthma for quite a long time. These conditions can certainly be persistent and challenging, especially when they've required multiple surgeries. Given your situation, we can explore some Ayurvedic approaches that might help. First, we consider why nasal polyps might recur. In Ayurveda, this could be related to imbalances in Kapha dosha, which governs mucous and fluid in the body. Polyps could be an excess manifestation of kapha, indicating the need for better management. Focusing on excess phlegm reduction and improving your Prana Vata (responsible for the sense functions) might aid recovery. A practical diet modification is one of the first steps. Try to avoid cold, heavy, and oily foods as these can aggravate Kapha. Instead, focus on warm, light meals, favor non-dairy options, and increase the intake of spicy foods like ginger and pepper which can balance kapha. It might not be easy, but avoiding allergens or triggers is crucial too. For lifestyle, consider Nasya therapy, which involves medicated oil drops in the nose. Anu taila is one option; two drops in each nostril, in the morning, could be beneficial but it’s crucial to consult a practitioner for guidance. Do Pranayama breathing exercises daily, which might not only strengthen your lungs but restore your sense of smell by improving airflow and reducing congestion. Herbal remedies like turmeric and trikatu (a blend of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger) might help reduce inflammation, which is a common issue with polyps, but do seek the opinion of a healthcare provider before incorporating, especially since you're dealing with asthma. While Ayurveda offers complementary strategies, don’t delay seeking medical care if symptoms worsen or new ones arise. Balancing your doshas and maintaining optimal health is a holistic journey, and integrating these practices gradually within your current medical plan could lead to meaningful improvements.
