It looks like your mother might be facing a bit of Vata imbalance, which can often lead to the issues like gas, joint pain, and constipation. In Ayurveda, it's important to address the root cause of these problems rather than just tackle them individually. To start with the diet, it’s crucial that she has warm, cooked meals. Raw and cold foods can imbalance Vata. Meals should include moong dal khichdi— a very nourishing yet light-to-digest dish, combining rice and lentils. Add ghee while cooking, as it pacifes Vata and aids digestion. She should avoid cold, dry, or processed foods, as these can worsen her condition. In terms of medicince, Triphala can be very beneficial. It's a well-known Ayurvedic formulation for supporting digestion and cleansing the bowels. She can take it in powder form— one teaspoon mixed in warm water, before bedtime. Be careful to start with a small dose, adjusting based on its effects. Gentle oil massages can be incredibly beneficial for Vata imbalances. Consider using warm sesame oil for a daily self-massage. It helps reduce joint pain and stiffness. Ensure the oil is lukewarm, and massage slowly, giving extra attention to painful areas such as legs and waist. Encourage gentle movement like yoga or simple stretches— this helps keep the body active without overstraining. She might start with light walking, which could alleviate some weight concerns too. Avoid high-intensity exercises that could aggravate her condition. For pain relief in her fingers and to manage the shape, I suggest a warm Turmeric paste applied locally— it's known for reducing inflammation. Mix turmeric powder with warm water to form a paste, apply on the affected area, and let it stay for 30 minutes before washing. Remember that the holistic approach in Ayurveda works progressively, and consistency is key. Consider consulting an Ayurveda practicioner for personalized guidance. In the meantime, if her symptoms exacerbate, it's best to consult a physician who could look closer to her needs.
