Keloid scars can be a bit tricky to manage, but there are some Ayurvedic tips that might help improve the condition. In Ayurveda, keloids are often considered an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which leads to inflammation and excessive scar tissue creation. To address this, we can focus on reducing this Pitta build-up. First, applying herbal oils could assist in softening the scar tissue. In particular, coconut oil combined with a little turmeric powder has potent anti-inflammatory properties. Massage this over the keloid gently twice daily; the key is consistency, not force. Next, diet plays an essential role. In Ayurvedic terms, a Pitta-pacifying diet can calm down any aggravation. This means avoiding spicy, sour, and excessively salty foods which are known to aggravate Pitta. Opt for cooling, hydrating foods instead, like cucumbers, melons, and cooked greens. Additionally, the herb Gotu Kola is revered in Ayurveda for skin healing. You can take this internally in capsule form, as it may strengthen skin structure and aid in healing. Always consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new herb, though. Moreover, applying a paste made from sandalwood powder and rose water might soothe the irritation and lessen the keloid’s appearance over time. Regular yoga and meditation can assist in bringing overall balance, potentially diminishing stress-related skin conditions. Remember, treatments like these won’t give overnight results, they demand patience and regular practice. If the keloid is causing severe discomfort or worsening, it’s wise to see a dermatologist who can offer you additional options. Balancing your lifestyle to reduce stress, coupled with Ayurvedic remedies, will provide the best chance to address this issue sustainably.
