Controlling hair fall through Ayurveda begins with understanding your dosha, the underlying energy in your body, which could be causing this issue. Commonly, an imbalance in the Pitta dosha is linked to hair fall, especially if you experience premature greying or itchy scalp. Let’s look deeper:

First, consider your diet. It plays a crucial role. Embrace foods that pacify Pitta like sweet, bitter, and astringent flavors. Include ghee, green leafy vegetables, coconut, and seasonal fruits like pomegranates or watermelons. Refrain from spicy, oily, and processed foods, as these may aggravate Pitta. Hydrate well with warm water or herbal teas, avoiding iced drinks.

Secondly, focus on scalp health. Opt for a weekly massage with medicated oils like Bhringraj or Amla oil, which are known for their qualities to nourish the scalp and strengthen hair roots. Warm the oil slightly before applying and massage gently, using circular motions to stimulate blood flow. Leave it in for 30 minutes, then wash with a gentle, herbal shampoo.

Stress is another factor not to be overlooked. Incorporate daily practices like meditation or yoga to calm the mind. Both have significant effects on reducing stress-induced hair fall. Asana such as Adho Mukha Svanasana can improve blood circulation to the scalp.

Additionally, consider herbal supplements like Triphala or Brahmi, known in Ayurveda for balancing doshas and supporting healthier hair. However, it’s essential to consult with an ayurvedic practitioner before starting any supplements to suit your specific needs.

Finally, lifestyle changes can make a difference. Avoid using hair dryers on hot settings or harsh chemicals in treatments; both can weaken the strands. Aim for regular sleep patterns, ideally between 10 pm and 6 am, to nurture your body’s natural cycles.

Remember, hair fall that persists despite all efforts may require further investigation, possibly involving your digestion, stress levels, or even hereditary factors. Keep monitoring the situation, and if severe hair fall continues, consider consulting with an ayurvedic doctor for a tailored treatment plan. Sometimes treating can take time, but with consistent effort, you should begin to see improvements.
