Ayurvedic Perspective In Ayurveda, thyroid disorders are seen as an imbalance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), with an emphasis on Kapha imbalance for hypothyroidism. The goal of Ayurvedic treatment is not just to manage symptoms but to restore the body’s natural balance and improve overall health.

Treatment Approach Ayurvedic treatment is a holistic process that can include: Herbal Remedies: Herbs like Ashwagandha, Guggulu, and Kanchanar Guggulu are often used to support thyroid function and reduce inflammation.

Dietary and Lifestyle Changes: This is a crucial part of the treatment.

Recommendations may include a Kapha-pacifying diet (avoiding cold, heavy, and processed foods), using warming spices, and incorporating practices like oil massage (Abhyanga) and yoga.

Panchakarma Therapies: These are cleansing and detoxification procedures that may be recommended to remove toxins and restore balance to the doshas.
Curability and Timeline

Ayurveda does not promise an instant cure. The process is focused on long-term wellness. An Ayurvedic practitioner would work to address the root cause of the imbalance. It can take several months of consistent and dedicated practice of diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies to see significant improvement. The length of treatment is highly individualized and depends on the severity of the imbalance, your body’s response to the treatment, and other health factors.

Namaste Sunil ji,

Thyroid disorder (whether hypothyroid or hyperthyroid) is generally a long-standing metabolic and hormonal imbalance. I can understand your concern but dont worry we are here to help you out😊

➡️Q. Is it curable or controllable?

👉In most cases, thyroid disorders are manageable and controllable rather than completely curable.

👉With proper diet, lifestyle, stress management, and Ayurvedic medicines, many patients are able to reduce their dependence on medicines and maintain normal thyroid function.

👉The time needed varies—usually 3 to 6 months of consistent treatment is required to see significant improvement, but in chronic cases, it may take longer.

➡️Q.Why you feel weak & stressed? Because thyroid imbalance slows down metabolism, reduces energy, and also affects the nervous system, leading to weakness, stress, and sometimes anxiety.

✅INVESTIGATIONS ADVISED= 1 Thryoid profile 2 CBC, ESR

✅❗PLS UPDATE IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY ALLOPATHY MEDICATIONS??

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMEMT

✅INTERNAL MEDICATION

1 Kanchanar Guggulu 1-0-1 after food – balances thyroid swelling & metabolism.

2 Stresscom 1-0-1 after food – reduces stress, strengthens thyroid & adrenal glands.

3 Brahmi cap 1 at bed time – calms stress & improves focus.

✅ DIET MODIFICATION

👉Take warm, light, easily digestible food.

👉Avoid excess curd, bakery foods, cold items, and deep-fried snacks.

👉Add drumstick leaves, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin, jeera water, ginger tea.

✅ LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION

👉Daily 30–40 mins brisk walk or yoga – especially Sarvangasana, Matsyasana, Bhujangasana.

👉Practice Pranayama – Anulom Vilom, Bhramari for stress relief.

👉Maintain fixed sleep timings.

Please don’t worry. Thyroid is not a life-threatening disease if managed properly.

With Ayurvedic medicines, right food, yoga, and stress management, you can definitely control thyroid levels, 😊

Warm. Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Thyroid can be cured with regular diet, pranayam and yogasan You will need ayurvedic medicine initially to fast-track results. If it is too high to control fast you may need allopathy initially, parallel ayurvedic treatment. As TSH reduces allopathic medicine can be tappered off. For all the treatment need to know your Thyroid profile values. For stress you can take Brahmi vati 1-0-1 after food with water Ashwagandha churan 0-0-1tsp at bedtime with warm milk.

HELLO SUNIL,

The thyroid gland produces hormones T3, T4 that control metabolism, energy, mood, weight , digestion, and body temperature -Hypothyroidism most common at age 50= gland works less-> body slows down Symptomd= weakness, weight gain, dry skin, hair fall, constipation, swelling, depression, stress, fatigue

-Hyperthyroidism = gland works too much -> body overactive Symptoms= weight loss, restlessness, sweating, palpitations, irritability

You mentioned weakness+ stress, which is more common in hypothyroidism

TREATMENT GOALS -normalise thyroid hormone function -strengthen digestive fire-> regulate metabolism -balance dosha mainly kapha and vata -reduce stress-> because stress worsens thyroid imbalance -rejuvinate tissues-> prevent complications -improve quality of life-> energy , sleep, digestion, mood

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) KANCHANAR GUGGULU= 500 mg twice daily after meals =reduces swelling in thyroid , balances kapha, improves gland function

2) ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk at night =adaptogens, improves energy, reduces weakness and stress, balances thyroid

3) PUNARNAVA MANDUR= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =reduces water retention, swelling, improves blood circulation

4) SARASWATARISHTA= 15 ml with equal water after meals =reduces stress, anxiety, improves mental calmness

5) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at night =detoxifies, improves metabolism, relieves constipation

6) SHANKHAPUSHPI syrup= 10 ml daily at night =for mental clarity, memory, emotional balance

EXTERNAL THERAPIES CAN go for detox panchakarma at nearby hospital -virechana -basti -nasya

HOME REMEDIES

-Drink warm water thoughout the day -use jeera+ ajwain+ methi seeds tea 1 tsp each boiled in water once daily -take 2 soaked almonds + 2 walnuts daily brain and thyroid support -use turmeric + black pepper in cooking regularly -avoid excessive salt, bakery items, and deep fried foods

DIET -favour light, warm, easily digestible foods -grains= barely, millets, old rice -pulses= green gram -vegetables= gourd family - bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin -fruits= papaya, apple, pomegranate, guava -cow’s ghee small amount -spices= cumin, black pepper, ginger, turmeric

AVOID -excess what, rice at night -curd, panner, cheese, ice-cream -junk food, bakery , fried foods -excess soy products they interfere with thyroid medicine

YOGA ASANAS -sarvangasana -matsyasana -bhujagasana -halasana -setu bandhasana

PRANAYAM -nadi sodhana -ujjayi- especially for thyroid -bhramari= redcues stress

LIFESTYLE CHANGES -Sleep= 6-8 hrs, avoid late nights -daily walk 30 min -reduce screen time, practice mediation -maintain healthy body weight -avoid stress triggers, overthinking

IS IT CURABLE-> in most cases, controllable not fully curable, but Ayurveda+ lifestyle can reduce symptoms, prevent complications and sometimes reduce medicine dosage -TIME FRAME= 2-3 months for noticeable relief, 6-12 months for strong control, lifelong discipline for stability -KEY= consistency in medicine, diet, lifestyle, and stress management

Hlw sunil ji,

Thank you for sharing your concerns — let’s go through your question in a clear and helpful way.

In Ayurveda, thyroid disorders are usually related to imbalance in the Doshas: Hypothyroidism: Linked to Kapha imbalance Hyperthyroidism: Linked to Pitta and Vata imbalance

Since you mentioned weakness and stress, and you’re over 50, this likely leans toward hypothyroidism (Kapha-dominant) — but it’s essential to confirm with tests.

Visit an endocrinologist – for complete thyroid evaluation. Get blood tests done (thyroid + vitamins).

✅ Ayurvedic Medicines and Doses:

1.Kanchanar Guggulu – 2 tablets (250 mg) 🔸 Twice daily after food

2.Ashwagandha Tablet – 1 tablet (500 mg) 🔸 Once or twice daily with warm water or milk

3.Triphala Churna – 1 teaspoon (5 grams) 🔸 At bedtime with warm water

4.Brahmi Vati – 1 tablet 🔸 Once daily (morning or night)

Lifestyle changes:

Sleep: 7–8 hours daily Yoga or meditation: 20 mins/day for stress

Avoid: caffeine, processed food

Eat: more vegetables, protein, nuts, and iodine-rich food (only if doctor approves) Exercise daily (even light walking)

Thank You!

Hello Sunil,

Let me explain clearly for your age and conditions. 🌿 Can Hypothyroidism be Cured?

Permanent (primary) hypothyroidism (most common type, due to autoimmune thyroiditis/thyroid damage) cannot be fully cured, because the thyroid gland cannot recover once damaged.

But it can be controlled lifelong with proper thyroid hormone replacement (Levothyroxine). With correct dose adjustment, most people live completely normal lives.

In some temporary conditions (like postpartum thyroiditis, iodine deficiency, or certain medications), hypothyroidism can sometimes be reversible — but this is less common.

⏳ Timeframe: If your hypothyroidism is permanent, you’ll need lifelong treatment. The goal is to keep your TSH in normal range, which restores energy and reduces weakness/stress. If it’s temporary, it may take 3–6 months to normalize after addressing the cause.

🌟 Why You Feel Weak & Stressed

1.Low thyroid hormone slows metabolism → fatigue, low mood, stress. 2.Vitiligo suggests an autoimmune tendency (so thyroid issue might also be autoimmune in nature). 3.Piles add discomfort, which increases stress.

4.So your weakness is not only thyroid but also from combined low hemoglobin, piles-related blood loss (if present), and stress imbalance (Vata aggravation in Ayurveda).

✅ What You Can Do

1. Medical Approach

1.Regularly check TSH every 3–6 months and adjust your thyroid medicine dose. 2.Treat piles to prevent bleeding & anemia. 3.Get hemoglobin, iron, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D levels checked (deficiencies worsen fatigue).

2. Ayurveda & Lifestyle Support

🌿 Internal Remedies (supportive):

1.Ashwagandha churna – 3 g with warm milk at bedtime (reduces stress & fatigue). 2.Triphala churna – 3 g at night with warm water (for piles & digestion). 3.Punarnavadi mandoor– 2-0-2 after food for anemia & piles.

🥗 Diet:

1.Warm, easily digestible foods (moong dal, green leafy veg, ghee). 2.Black sesame, dates, raisins, pomegranate (support blood & thyroid). 3.Avoid cabbage, cauliflower, soya, and too much millet (these suppress thyroid). 4.Avoid excess oily, spicy, junk food (worsens piles).

🧘 Yoga & Stress Relief:

1.Surya Namaskar (gentle, 6 rounds daily). 2.Anuloma–Viloma & Bhramari pranayama – calms mind, balances thyroid. 3.Viparita Karani (legs-up pose) – helps piles & blood circulation. 4.Sleep early, avoid late nights (improves stress hormones).

🎯 Summary 1.Hypothyroidism is usually controllable, not curable (unless temporary). 2.With proper medicine, lifestyle, and stress management, you can live without weakness or stress. 3.Your vitiligo is also an autoimmune sign – so maintaining strong digestion (Agni) & immunity is key. 4.Piles should be treated (either with Ayurveda herbs like Triphala, Haritaki or surgery if severe) to stop blood loss and weakness.

If you want i can prepare a full treatment plan for you… With warm regards Dr.Sumi

When it comes to thyroid disorders, Ayurveda recognizes them as imbalances often linked to doshas and dhatus. Whether it’s hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, the approach involves balancing your doshas and maintaining your digestive fire or agni. Though not claiming a complete ‘cure’ in allopathic terms, many individuals find significant improvement in symptoms and quality of life through Ayurvedic practices, though it requires patience and consistency.

Thyroid imbalances are often manageable through Ayurveda. The timeframe can vary, potentially ranging from a few months to a year, depending on several factors like lifestyle, diet, stress levels, and individual constitution (prakriti). It’s essential to address the root cause, balance Vata, Pitta, or Kapha, and restore agni.

To manage your symptoms of weakness and stress, consider incorporating the following Ayurvedic principles:

1. Diet: Emphasize warm, cooked foods that balance your dosha. If you lean towards a Kapha imbalance (common in hypothyroidism), reduce cold, heavy foods and increase spices like ginger and turmeric. For Pitta imbalance (often seen in hyperthyroidism), avoid spicy, oily foods and prefer cooling, calming meals.

2. Herbal Support: Herbs like Ashwagandha are known for supporting thyroid health and reducing stress. Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized herbal prescriptions.

3. Lifestyle: Practice daily Ayurvedic routines (dinacharya) like oil massage (abhyanga) to improve circulation and energy levels. Engage in gentle exercises like yoga or Tai Chi to manage stress.

4. Mindfulness: Practices such as meditation and pranayama help in reducing stress. Breathing exercises are particularly beneficial for calming the mind and supporting overall thyroid health.

While these guidelines can assist in managing thyroid imbalances, it’s crucial to regularly monitor thyroid levels with your healthcare provider and seek professional consultation. Immediate medical attention is necessary if symptoms worsen or become unmanageable. Balancing your lifestyle alongside proper medical guidance should give the best outcome.

HELLO SUNIL,

Thyroid disorder- can it be cured? -In Modern medicine= most thyroid disorders are manageable, not completely curable. patient usually need long term or life long mediicnes -In Ayurveda= thyroid imbalance is linked to digestive fire, kapha-vata imbalance, and disturbed metabolism. Ayurveda aims to restore balance, so many people experience improvement and sometimes reduced dependency on medicines but the timeline varies by person

HOW LONG FOR RESULTS? -usually 3-6 months of consistent Ayurvedic treatment + lifestyle changes are needed to notice real improvement -some cases may require long-term management

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT

1) DIET -Avoid= curd at night, cold drinks, fast food, excess sweets, cabbage, cauliflower, soy -Prefer= warm food, moong dal, old rice/wheat drumstick, bottle gourd, turmeric, black pepper, garlic, ginger -use rock salt instead of table salt

2) LIFESTYLE -Daily walking, suryanamaskar, pranayam (anulom vilom, bhramari, ujjayi breathing) -manage stress through meditation and yoga nidra -sleep early, wake up early

3) INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

-Kanchanar guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals with lukewarm water

-Varunadi kwatha= 20 ml with equal water twice daily before meals

-Punarnavadi mandur= 500 mg twice daily after meals

-Arogyavardhini vati= 2 tabs twice daily after meals

-Chitrakadi Vati= 1 tab 2 times / day before meals with warm water

-Yogaraj guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals

-Thyroid is usually controllable , not 100% curable in all cases. -Ayurveda can bring symptomatic relief, reduce weakness and stress, and sometimes reduce dependency on lifelong medicines -consistency for at least 3-6 months is essential

Thyroid disorders, whether they’re hypo or hyperthyroid in nature, can often be managed effectively with the right approach, but “cure” might not be the appropriate expectation for everyone. In Siddha-Ayurvedic practice, we focus on rebalancing the doshas involved, typically vata and kapha for hypothyroidism and pitta for hyperthyroidism, and strengthening the agni, or digestive fire, which is often impaired in thyroid conditions.

Addressing thyroid imbalances can take time, possibly several months, varying based on individual constitution (prakriti), severity, and response to treatment. While a definitive timeframe is difficult to predict, consistent practice of recommended interventions can lead to significant improvements.

To manage weakness and stress tied to thyroid issues, consider these steps:

1. Dietary Adjustments: Favor warm, cooked foods, reducing raw and cold substances. Incorporate foods like barley, mung beans, and seasonal vegetables which support thyroid function. Limit intake of goitrogenic foods like soy and cruciferous vegetables, as they’re best consumed cooked if thyroid function is impaired.

2. Herbal Support: Herbs such as Ashwagandha, Shankhpushpi, and Guggulu can aid thyroid health and stress management. However, dosage and use should be personalized. Consult with a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner who can guide you based on your dosha balance and individual needs.

3. Stress Reduction: Yoga, meditation, and pranayama like Nadi Shodhana help in alleviating stress and can bring calmness to the mind. Regular daily practice is key to seeing benefits over time.

4. Routine: Establish a regular routine with set meal times and activities. This helps stabilize vata, which may be contributing to stress.

5. Medical Monitoring: Thyroid function should be routinely monitored by modern medical tests to ensure levels are well-managed and to avoid complications.

Balancing the thyroid involves a holistic approach integrating lifestyle, diet, herbal supplements, and stress management. Close collaboration with healthcare providers is essential, especially if you’re on medication, to ensure safe and effective management.
