How can fennel seeds for breast milk help new moms enhance their lactation? - #21999

Theodore

I am really anxious about my milk supply since I had my baby just a few weeks ago. I keep hearing that fennel seeds for breast milk can make a big difference! So, I decided to give it a try after my friend told me it worked wonders for her. But honestly, when should I take fennel seeds for breast milk? I’ve been boiling them in water and drinking it like tea, but sometimes I worry if that’s enough. Also, do I need to keep taking them daily or just now and then? I can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed because, you know, breastfeeding is so much pressure. Just last night, my little one was fussing and I wasn’t sure if it was because I wasn’t producing enough! Sometimes my breast milk feels like it’s plenty, and other times, I feel like I hardly have anything...like, what’s wrong? I also heard some people use fennel seeds for breast milk as a spice in their meals. Is that effective too? I wonder if it works better in a tea or in food. I’m just looking for confidence, I guess? Any stories or tips would help! I wanna make sure my baby gets everything they need and I don't want to miss out. Thanks for any help about fennel seeds for breast milk!

Fennel seeds definitely increases the quality and quantity of milk. You can take Fennel Seeds for Breast Milk in following ways-

1. Fennel Seed Tea.-Boil 1 tsp of fennel seeds in 1.5 cups of water.Simmer for 5–10 minutes, then strain and sip warm. Drink this 1–2 times daily. 2. As a Spice in Food. 3. Chewing Fennel Seeds Other things which would be helpfull -*Skin-to-skin contact helps boost oxytocin and milk letdown. *Frequent feeding or pumping tells your body to make more milk.

Oats, fenugreek, moringa, cumin, and ajwain are also helpful herbs/spices for lactation.

Fennel seeds can indeed support breastfeeding mothers by enhancing milk production. This is because fennel contains phytoestrogens, which may mimic the hormone estrogen left, helping stimulate milk glands. You’ve already started taking fennel as a tea by boiling them in water, which is a great start! Typically, you can drink this tea about 2-3 times a day. It’s sensible to consume it soon after meals, as this can help in the digestion process and absorption of nutrients beneficial to milk production.

Incorporating fennel seeds into your meals as a spice is effective too, this can actually work synergistically with the tea. You can lightly roast and grind the seeds and sprinkle them on salads or incorporate them into curries or cooked vegetables. The inclusion of fennel in meals provides not just direct benefits for milk production but also enhances digestive health, an essential part of maintaining balanced agni (digestive fire) which is key per Ayurveda.

Daily consistency is more effective than sporadic use. Ideally, you take fennel daily, but if you miss a day here or there, don’t stress—that’s life with a newborn! It’s just as important to focus on your diet ensuring you have a good mix of nutrient dense foods, and also hydrate adequately. Your milk supply can vary based on a variety of factors like stress levels, sleep, and nutrition.

If you’re still experiencing significant anxiety over supply, consult with lactation consultant or health professional. They can provide tailored advice and assist with any concerns you might have, ensuring both you and your baby’s needs are met wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, try to create as much peace and relaxation around feeding times as possible; this can naturally enhance your body’s nurturing capabilities. Breathe, trusting your body and this ancient wisdom in fennel to support you both.
