How does sandalwood for hair help against damage and promote growth? - #22163

Daniel

I am really desperate for some good advice on using sandalwood for hair. So, I've been having this major problem with my hair lately, it’s been super dry and brittle, like I could barely run my fingers through it without breakage. My friend mentioned something about sandalwood for hair and I thought maybe, just maybe it could do something good for me. I mean, I've tried oils and masks, but they haven't really worked out, you know? I've read that sandalwood for hair is supposed to be really soothing or something, but I'm not sure how to use it. Do I just apply it directly, or should I mix it with something? Is there a specific type of sandalwood I should look for? Also, I've heard sandalwood for hair can help with scalp issues, like itching and dryness. But is that true? I don't wanna waste my time or money if it's not gonna help. And I really don't want to make my hair oily or greasy either! It just feels like I’m on this rollercoaster of trying to fix my hair, and then finding new products that may or may not work. Has anyone had good experiences with sandalwood for hair? Would love some tips and maybe a few personal stories about how it worked for others! Just looking for some hope here, haha. But really, any input would be great – thanks in advance!

The properties of Sandalwood is dry and coolant so if you want to use this in dry and itching scalp you may not find much benefit...it's more beneficial when you have oily hair, burning sensation then alone sandal wood may be help full...so instead of using only sandalwood you can mix this powder with milk and use as hair pack ..it will strengthen the hair and reduce dryness and itchy ness... excess dryness may cause itching so using oil is also helpful..use neelibrungamalaka taila for head massage

Yess it can show genuine result in this case but it should be used properly As without proper knowledge it can damage more Let me tell you about how sandalwood can work in this case it can work by its cooling, hydrating and anti inflammatory action It can work for scaly flaky hair issue and can work well in dry hair by nourishing and reduce itching and irritation and give nourishment to breakage of hair if used in correct manner Use sandalwood oil - like mix almond oil and jojoba oil and massage it 2-3 times a week and wash with herbal shampoo no chemical based shampoos And for hair pack you can mix it with milk as milk is nourishing in nature And you can use as a spray sandalwood water Patience is a Key to manage so to get proper result you have to maintain diet include ghee in your diet daily and use this for minimum 6 months to get proper result Thank you

Sandalwood, a revered component in Ayurveda, can indeed offer benefits for dry, brittle hair. Known as "Chandan" in Sanskrit, it is celebrated for its calming and nourishing properties. Sandalwood for hair can be especially helpful when dealing with issues like breakage and scalp irritation. Its natural components work to restore balance and promote a healthy environment for hair growth. For practical use, it’s best to look for sandalwood essential oil or sandalwood powder. Essential oils are concentrated and should never be applied directly to the scalp or hair without dilution. Mix a few drops of sandalwood essential oil with a carrier oil like coconut or sesame oil, which is also nourishing and aligns with Ayurvedic principles. Apply this mixture to your scalp and hair, gently massaging for a few minutes to improve circulation and allow the nourishing benefits to seep in. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, then wash it off with a gentle shampoo. If you're using sandalwood powder, a beneficial hair mask can be made by mixing it with yogurt or aloe vera gel. This mixture can be applied to damp hair and left on for around 20 minutes before rinsing. Sandalwood is known to help soothe an itchy and dry scalp, which may be detracting from your overall hair health. The antimicrobial properties of sandalwood can alleviate itching and promote a healthier scalp. However, it's essential to choose authentic sandalwood - preferably Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) - as it is more potent and effective than other varieties. While sandalwood should generally not make your hair oily or greasy when used correctly, it’s always best to adjust the quantity based on your hair's natural oiliness or dryness. Start with a smaller amount to gauge how your hair responds. While some people might have had positive results with sandalwood, it's important to understand that individual results may vary due to different hair types and underlying issues. Consistency in treatment is key, along with maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to support hair health from within. If you pursue this treatment, try implementing it regularly, perhaps once a week, to assess its effects over time.
