Excessive hair fall and increasing pigmentation can be distressing, so let's explore how we can address these issues through Ayurveda. Hair fall can often linked to an imbalance in the Kapha and Vata doshas, sometimes even Pitta. The focus will be on nourishing the scalp, improving blood flow and balancing your doshas. For hair fall, understanding your scalp’s health is essential. Applying oils like coconut and rosemary is beneficial, but they might not address the root causes effectively. Consider incorporating Bhringraj oil, known in Ayurveda for promoting hair growth and reducing hair fall. After slightly warming the Bhringraj oil, massage your scalp gently using your fingertips three to four times a week. This aids in boosting circulation and strengthening the hair follicles. Leave the oil overnight and wash it off with a mild Ayurvedic shampoo the next morning. Look into your diet; it can deeply influence hair health. Consume foods that pacify Vata and Pitta – like cooked veggies, leafy greens, almonds, raisins, and mung beans. Fish is also encouraged if you’re non-vegiterian, to boost Omega-3 fatty acids. Ensure adequate hydration and intake of herbs like amla (Indian gooseberry) and aloe vera. Two tablespoons of aloe vera gel with a pinch of turmeric on an empty stomach can do wonders in cleansing your system. As for pigmentation, it suggests an increase in Pitta in your body. Turmeric and sandalwood paste can be directly applied on dark spots for their cooling and soothing effects. Mix a tablespoon of sandalwood powder with turmeric, make a paste with milk or rose water and apply it directly to the pigmented areas. Let it sit for 15-20 mins, washing off with lukewarm water. Doing this twice a week can help over time. Additionally, managing stress through yoga or meditation is paramount as excess stress can trigger hairfall and skin issues. Ensure you get enough quality sleep each night as it aids healing and rejuvenation. If you see no improvement after trying these recommendations, or if the conditions appear to worsen, visiting an Ayurvedic practitioner or even an allopathic dermatologist could be valuable for thorough personalized assessment.
