how to use reetha for hair - #23423

Savannah

I am really confused about how to use reetha for hair, and I hope someone can help! So, a few weeks ago, I started noticing my hair thinning out, and I read somewhere that reetha could be a game-changer since it's natural and all. I’ve been doing my research, but honestly, every article says something different. Like, some say to boil the dried nuts while others suggest soaking them overnight. Also, I tried using reetha powder mixed with water once, and it felt kinda weird. My hair didn’t lather at all, and I thought I did something wrong, because isn’t lathering part of washing your hair? I just want to know how to use reetha for hair without messing it up. Do I need to add anything else? Should I be using it daily or just a couple times a week? I’m really hoping this works because I can’t stand the thought of losing more hair! Any advice would seriously help! Thanks in advance!

Reetha, also known as soapnut, is a wonderful natural option for hair care, especially when looking to support healthier hair. Given your concerns about hair thinning, reetha can be beneficial, thanks to its gentle cleansing properties without harsh chemicals. Here's a straightforward way to incorporate reetha into your hair care routine, addressing your confusion. To begin with, using whole dried reetha nuts might be more beneficial than powder if you're struggling with lathering. You can start by taking about 10 to 12 reetha nuts and soak them overnight in about 2-3 cups of water. This soaking helps to soften the nuts and release their saponins, which do the actual cleansing. The next day, boil the soaked reetha with the same water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Watching the mixture, you'll notice it will start to froth, which is natural. Once done, let it cool down. After cooling, mash the nuts in the water to extract more juice and then strain out the liquid using a fine cloth or strainer. This liquid is your natural hair cleanser. Now, let's talk application. Since you mentioned it felt weird without lathering — it's important to note that natural cleansers like reetha won't create the same frothy lather like commercial shampoos. However, the saponins do cleanse effectively. Massage this reetha water into your scalp and hair, leave it on for about 5 -10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Regarding frequency, using reetha 2 to 3 times a week should suffice for regular cleansing without over-drying your scalp. If your hair feels too dry, consider conditioning with a light oil, like coconut or almond oil, applied after rinsing and before drying. Keep in mind, using reetha may require a period of adaptation. Hair accustomed to commercial shampoos might need a bit of time to adjust. Also, remember, consistent use along with a balanced diet rich in nutrients that support hair health will often yield better results. Finally, if your hair feels too dry or the scalp becomes sensitive, discontinue use and consult an Ayurvedic physician for personalized advice. Each person's hair type differs, and balancing based on dosha imbalances is essential.
