where is multani mitti found in india - #23592

Charles

I am really curious about multani mitti and where is multani mitti found in India? A couple of months ago, I heard my aunt talking about how she uses it for her skin, saying it really helps with acne and gives her a nice glow. I thought, why not give it a try right? But here's the thing, I live in a small town and no stores here seem to carry it! I've done some online digging, but I'm not exactly sure if what I find is legit or just some random powder. I did read that multani mitti is supposed to be really easy to find in places like Rajasthan, which is like way far from me. But do people sell it in other states too? How do I know if I'm getting the real deal? Is there a specific place I should ask around, or any local shops that might have it? Really hoping to try it soon and see if it works for my skin like it did for my aunt! Any tips on using it or buying it would be super helpful. Thanks!

Multani mitti, or Fuller's earth as it's known in English, is indeed a popular natural remedy with roots in Ayurvedic tradition. It's primarily found in the Northwestern regions of India, particularly Rajasthan, which you correctly mentioned, as well as some parts of Gujarat. These areas are naturally rich in the kind of clay that forms multani mitti through historical geological processes. While it might feel a bit challenging to find it locally in your small town, it is indeed widely sold across India, including urban, semi-urban and some rural areas. It is often available in many Ayurvedic stores, organic product shops, and even pharmacies that specialize in herbal products. If you have access to a nearby city with larger markets, it's worth inquiring there. Even some general stores might stock it due to its popularity. When purchasing multani mitti, look for a product that is off-white to light-brown in color and has a smooth, powdery texture. It's mostly supposed to be free from lumps and feel slightly gritty when rubbed between your fingers. As for legitimacy, reputable brands or stores that frequently deal in natural or Ayurvedic products should be reliable. If you’re buying online, check reviews and maybe opt for brands that are known for Ayurvedic or herbal product manufacturing. Using it is quite simple, mix it with rose water for oily skin or milk for dry skin, and apply it as a face pack. Let it sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing. Avoid overuse; usually, once or twice a week should suffice. It's a cooling agent, so it might dry out your skin if overused, especially in winters. Always do a patch test on a small section of your skin to ensure there are no adverse reactions. If any irritation occurs, discontinue use. Hope you find the real deal soon and experience the glow your aunt raves about!
