can we use besan daily on face - #24266
I am really curious about something and hope someone here can help me out. Lately, my skin's been acting up—like, super oily and breaking out more than usual, which is just so frustrating! I remember my grandma always raving about how she used besan for her skin and it really worked for her, so I thought to give it a try. I've been using besan for about a week now, mixing it with some yogurt and a little honey. It feels nice and my skin seems to be a bit clearer, but I'm not sure if it's actually okay to do this every day. So, can we use besan daily on face without causing irritation or any long-term issues? I heard that some people say it might dry out your skin, while others swear by using it regularly. I don't wanna mess things up, ya know? Any thoughts or experiences you guys have? Also, should I be doing something different with it? I'm just really trying to figure this out!

Besan, or chickpea flour, is a traditional remedy that’s been used in Ayurveda for its exfoliating and cleansing properties. It’s quite popular for dealing with excess oiliness and acne-prone skin, just like you’ve mentioned experiencing. However, using besan on a daily basis can sometimes lead to dryness or irritation, especially if your skin is on the sensitive end of the spectrum.
The mix you’re using—besan with yogurt and honey—strikes a pretty nice balance. Yogurt provides lactic acid that can gently exfoliate and moisturize, while honey is known for its hydrating and antibacterial qualities. If you’re choosing to use this blend daily, observe your skin carefully. If you notice any signs of excessive dryness or irritation, reduce the frequency to about 3 times a week and allow your skin to adjust.
Just as a note of caution, besan can sometimes be a bit too abrasive for daily use if scrubbed vigorously. Gently applying it as a paste is enough to get the benefits without over-exfoliating your skin. For extra pampering, a pinch of turmeric can be added for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities; but apply cautiously as it can stain if used in excess.
Also, keep in mind that every skin type has its own needs. If daily applications begin to feel harsh, complement your routine with a lightweight, hydrating moisturizer, preferably one that is suitable for oily skin, to maintain a healthy moisture level. And, always patch test any new ingredient or formulation to ensure it doesn’t trigger any allergies.
Your skincare routine should adapt based on the climate and your skin’s current state. Besan is a great part of a natural skin regimen, but balance and observation are key to ensuring that it works synergistically with your individual skin type. If you find your condition does not improve or worsens, consider consulting a dermatologist or Ayurvedic practitioner for further personalized advice.
