Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam - #26803
I am struggling with this really annoying joint pain that just won’t go away. It’s been months, and I’ve tried some other remedies but nothing seems to work like I’d hoped. A friend of mine mentioned Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam, said it helped her mom with a similar issue. I was a bit skeptical at first, but now I’m considering giving it a shot. I guess I should mention that my pain is mostly in my knees and sometimes feels swollen. I did some tests, nothing super major, just some inflammation. My doctor suggested I try some anti-inflammatories but I’m not a fan of those long-term. The idea of going the Ayurvedic route sounds kinda appealing, especially if Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam is supposed to be good for joint health. From what I read, it seems like it could really help reduce pain and all that, but I’m also worried cause I don’t want to waste time or money. Can anyone share their experience with Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam? Like, how did it work for you? Did you notice differences quickly or did it take a while? Any side effects or things I should be cautious about? Honestly, I’m just feeling a bit overwhelmed and not sure what to do next, so any advice would be super appreciated! Tnx!

Doctors’ responses
hello David ,
I completely understand your frustration. Joint pain, especially when it’s persistent in the knees and causes swelling, can really affect your day-to-day life. It’s natural to feel skeptical about trying something new, especially after other remedies haven’t helped much. From what you describe, your inflammation isn’t severe, which is good—it means with the right approach, Ayurveda can support your joints and potentially reduce pain naturally.
Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam is traditionally used in Ayurveda for joint health and inflammation. It’s gentle and focuses on reducing stiffness, improving circulation in the joints, and calming inflammation without the side effects that long-term anti-inflammatories can cause.
Typically, benefits are seen gradually over a few weeks, so patience is important. Also, it’s important to use it consistently and follow supportive lifestyle measures, like light joint-friendly exercise and a Pitta-Vata balancing diet.
Ama Pachana / First line digestion support: Lightly spiced warm water in the morning, and small, easy-to-digest meals.
Internal medications: Nagarjuna Pushyaanuga Choornam – ½ to 1 teaspoon twice daily with warm water or milk, after meals. Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) – 1 tablet twice daily (if available), helps with joint inflammation.
External therapies: Warm sesame or Mahanarayan oil massage on knees for 10–15 minutes daily before bathing. Gentle knee movements or light yoga to maintain flexibility.
Diet & lifestyle: Avoid heavy, oily, or extremely cold foods. Include turmeric, ginger, and seasonal vegetables. Stay hydrated and avoid long periods of sitting without movement. Investigations: Routine check for inflammation markers (like CRP) is enough unless symptoms worsen.
With consistent use, your joint pain should gradually reduce, swelling may ease, and mobility can improve. It’s safe, and the key is regularity and gentle care.
Warm regards, Dr. Karthika
