Doctors' responses
Based on your history: Took Macprox DP 500 (painkiller combination) Developed full body skin bumps Swelling present 1–2 months duration Allegra (Fexofenadine 180 mg) taken for 1 month Not resolving This is NOT a simple short-term drug allergy anymore. ⚠️ Most Likely Possibility: Chronic Urticaria (Chronic Hives) Your symptoms match: Raised bumps (wheals) Body swelling Persistent > 6 weeks Not fully controlled with antihistamine This is commonly called chronic urticaria. Drug may have triggered it initially, but now immune system is overactive. What Usually Happens Painkiller (NSAID) → immune activation → mast cell instability → Body keeps producing histamine → bumps continue even after stopping drug. So now it is no longer a simple “drug allergy”. 🚨 First: Red Flag Check Do you have: Lip swelling? Tongue swelling? Breathing difficulty? Severe throat tightness? If YES → emergency care needed. If NO → we manage systematically. Why Allegra Alone Is Not Working In chronic urticaria: Sometimes antihistamine dose needs adjustment Sometimes combination therapy needed Sometimes autoimmune cause present Sometimes thyroid involvement Just 1 tablet daily may not be enough. 🔬 Important Tests You Should Consider Please check: CBC ESR Thyroid profile (TSH) Vitamin D LFT RFT Chronic urticaria is sometimes linked with thyroid autoimmunity. 🌿 Ayurvedic View This is similar to: Sheetpitta Udarda Raktadushti + Pitta + Vata aggravation Triggered by: Painkiller Stress Irregular digestion 🌿 Ayurvedic Support (Only if no severe symptoms) Common options doctors use: Haridra khanda Mahamanjisthadi kwath Arogyavardhini (if liver involved) Avipattikar (if acidity present) But treatment must be constitution-based.
