Doctors' responses

The child is now 8 years old and completely blind, and the optic nerve was severely damaged from meningitis at 6 months of age, then medically this most likely means: 👉 Severe bilateral optic atrophy 👉 Optic nerve fibers are permanently destroyed Unfortunately, neither modern medicine nor Ayurveda can regenerate a completely destroyed optic nerve. There is currently no proven treatment anywhere in the world that can restore vision in complete optic nerve atrophy. Why vision cannot return The optic nerve is part of the brain (central nervous system). Once those nerve cells die, they do not regrow naturally. In such long-standing cases (7+ years), recovery chances are extremely low. I know this is painful to hear, especially when the child is poor. 💔 🌿 What Ayurveda CAN do Even if vision cannot return, Ayurveda can help in: ✔ Strengthening nervous system ✔ Improving brain function ✔ Improving immunity ✔ Supporting cognitive development ✔ Improving quality of life ✔ Preventing secondary issues But it will NOT bring back eyesight in complete blindness. Supportive Therapies (For overall neurological support) 🌼 Shiro Abhyanga & Shirodhara Helps calm nervous system and improve circulation. 🌼 Netra Tarpana (only if some light perception exists) ⚠️ Only useful if some optic function remains. If complete blindness, it will not restore sight. 🌿 Internal Rasayana (under supervision) Brahmi Ashwagandha Mahatriphala Ghrita Medhya Rasayanas These support brain health. Very Important – Ethical Advice (as TRIPT AYURVEDA doctor 🌿) Please do NOT promise the family: ❌ “Vision will come back.” ❌ “Ayurveda can cure blindness.” That would break trust and harm your clinic reputation. Instead say: ✔ “We will support the child’s overall neurological health.” ✔ “We will try to improve general development and strength.” This builds real respect. What will help the child MOST More than medicines: Braille education Blind school enrollment Mobility training Government disability benefits Psychological support That will change the child’s life more than any medicine.
