Doctors’ responses
YAG PI (YAG Peripheral Iridotomy) is a medical procedure often recommended for managing high intraocular pressure, especially if there’s a risk of angle-closure glaucoma. It’s important to follow the advice of your ophthalmologist regarding this. However, incorporating Ayurveda can help support overall wellness, although it shouldn’t replace medical procedures in critical cases.
Your Ayurvedic practitioner’s advice to lose weight and reduce body inflammation aligns well with the goal of lowering oogcular pressure. You mentioned high IgE levels, which could indicate chronic allergy or inflammation. Managing these can positively influence your overall health, including eye health. Bressol tablets can help reduce respiratory inflammation, but, make sure your Ayurvedic doctor supports this remedy for your specific case.
For reducing weight and inflammation, focus on a balanced diet with fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and less processed food. Avoid kapha-aggravating foods such as dairy products, sugary foods, and excessive salt. Favor warm water or herbal teas like ginger or turmeric to improve digestion and reduce ama (toxins).
Exercise is crucial; try daily walking, yoga, or pranayama like kapalbhati and deep breathing - they can help detoxify and rejuvenate your system. However, ensure activities are safe, considering your eye condition. Practices like Shirodhara are known for stress relief, which may also contribute to eye pressure management, but must be discussed with your Ayurvedic doctor.
Reiki and acupuncture can offer complementary benefits. They may not directly lower eye pressure but can promote relaxation and stress reduction, which indirectly support healing. These therapies should be seen as supportive rather than replacements. Ensure you consult qualified practitioners who understand your existing medical conditions.
Remember, when considering any alternative therapies, ensure they do not delay essential medical treatments. Prioritize urgent medical recommendations from your doctors regarding conditions like high eye pressure to avoid potential complications.
A consistent intraocular pressure between 21 to 24 is indeed a concern, and your doctor’s suggestion of YAG PI (Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet Peripheral Iridotomy) should be considered seriously, as high eye pressure can damage optic nerves, leading to potential vision problems. In such cases, delaying or avoiding necessary medical treatment might not be safe. However, integrating Ayurvedic principles with your ongoing treatment can support overall health.
Your current approach towards reducing weight and inflammation aligns well with Ayurvedic view, as excess weight and systemic inflammation may contribute to imbalance in doshas, particularly kapha. Reducing kapha can help lower inflammation, and sometimes improve other health metrics. Focus on a diet high in fiber and low in sugar, processed foods, and dairy to help manage both weight and inflammation. Regular physical activity, suited to your constitution, such as brisk walking or yoga, can be quite beneficial.
Regarding your high IgE levels, it points towards an elevated state of ama (toxins) in your system. Continue with the Himalaya Bressol tablet as prescribed, but you might also consider incorporating turmeric, which has anti-inflammatory properties, into your diet. A warm glass of turmeric water in the morning can aid in reducing allergies and boosting immunity.
Reiki, acupuncture, and acupressure are supportive therapies that can enhance relaxation and stress relief, which indirectly help with overall health. These should be additional practices under professional guidance and not replacements for the medical advice you’ve been given. Remember, your safety comes first. Balancing contemporary treatments with holistic approaches can provide a comprehensive path to wellness.
