Doctors' responses

Hello Debby Thank you for sharing. I understand your concern — infertility can feel overwhelming, but the good news is that with proper tests, evaluation, and treatments, many couples successfully conceive. So dont worry we are here to help you out😊

✅ First Steps in Infertility Evaluation

Doctors usually recommend evaluation if a couple has been trying for >1 year (or >6 months if woman is above 35). In your case (3 years), it’s definitely the right time to do a full workup.

✅TESTS FOR FEMALE (Female Partner)

These help assess ovulation, hormones, and reproductive organs: 1. Blood Tests (Hormones):

FSH, LH (egg reserve & ovulation function) AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone – ovarian reserve) Prolactin (high levels can disturb ovulation) TSH (thyroid – imbalance affects fertility) Progesterone (to confirm ovulation, usually done Day 21 of cycle)

2. Ultrasound Scans:

Pelvic ultrasound to check uterus, ovaries, cysts, PCOS Follicular monitoring (to see if eggs are maturing & releasing)

3. Special Tests: ( if all above are normal then only we can go for this tests)

HSG (Hysterosalpingography) - X-ray dye test to check if fallopian tubes are open Sonohysterogram / Hysteroscopy - to check uterus lining, fibroids, polyps if suspected

✅TESTS FOR MALE (Male Partner)

Since 40–50% infertility causes come from the male side, your husband should also be tested.

1. Semen Analysis (basic, most important):

Sperm count Motility (movement) Morphology (shape/quality)

2. Blood Tests (if needed):

Testosterone, FSH, LH (for hormonal balance)

3. Scrotal Ultrasound (if varicocele or blockage is suspected)

✅NATURAL AND SUPPORTIVE TIPS

Maintain healthy weight (both partners). Eat fresh, balanced diet (protein, whole grains, green veg, fruits). Avoid alcohol, smoking, excess caffeine. Manage stress (yoga, meditation, counseling). Regular intercourse (every 2–3 days, especially during fertile window).

Hope you found this helpful😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Considering that you’ve been trying to conceive for three years, it’s essential to evaluate both you and your husband’s reproductive health through a series of tests. For women, commonly recommended tests in modern medicine to assess fertility include blood tests to check hormone levels, such as Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), LH (Luteinizing Hormone), and Estradiol. Assessing ovarian reserve with an Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test can be helpful, too. Besides these, a pelvic ultrasound may be done to examine for structural issues, and a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) can assess whether the fallopian tubes are open.

Your husband should undergo a semen analysis, a straightforward procedure to assess sperm count, motility (movement), and morphology (shape). Hormone blood tests could also be performed if issues are suspected, checking levels such as testosterone, FSH and LH, which are integral to male fertility.

From an ayurvedic perspective, we focus on balancing your body’s energies, specifically the doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, with special attention to ensuring a healthy Shukra Dhatu, which denotes the reproductive tissues. Enhancing your agni (digestive fire) is crucial as well, ensuring proper absorption of nutrients affecting overall health. Keeping stress levels in check is equally vital since stress imbalance the Vata dosha, influencing reproductive health.

Diet should be sattvic, with fresh, nutrient-rich foods — including dairy like milk and ghee, as they nourish the reproductive tissue. Herbs such as Ashwagandha for your husband, and Shatavari for you can support reproductive health naturally. Incorporate yoga and pranayama to calm the mind and strengthen physical health. Regular following of dinacharya, a daily routine as per Ayurveda, can enforce balance and stability in your life. For precise therapeutic guidance or dosha-specific advice, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner can provide a personalized regimen inconsistent with your constitution and lifestyle.
