how to improve sex - #36531

Sebastian

I am really struggling with my sex life lately and I don’t know what to do anymore. My partner and I used to have this amazing connection, but over the past few months, everything seems to have changed. It often feels like we’re just going through the motions and I can't shake the awkwardness, ya know? I've read about how to improve sex, but nothing feels like it’s sticking. I've tried talking to my partner, but it usually ends up being awkward and uncomfortable. Sometimes we just end up laughing it off like it’s no big deal, but deep down, I feel frustrated. I’ve even considered trying some herbal remedies I found online but honestly, I don't know where to start! I remember this one time we were so into it, but now it feels like we're two strangers, and I'm really worried about it affecting our relationship. How to improve sex becomes this nagging question in my head, and I'm ready to try anything. Are there specific herbs or practices that could help rekindle that spark? Please help!

Doctors' responses

When considering improvements to your sexual health and relationship, Ayurveda offers several insights that can be both practical and nurturing. Firstly, focus on understanding your own mind-body constitution, or dosha. Evaluating whether an imbalance in Vata, Pitta, or Kapha is contributing to your concerns can be highly effective. An imbalance in Vata, for example, might lead to feelings of anxiety and restlessness, possibly affecting intimate connections.

Bala (Sida cordifolia) is a potent herb that promotes vitality and stamina. It might be beneficial for enhancing your energy. You might steep it into a tea or use it as supplement, ideally under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Ashwagandha is another revered herb known for reducing stress and increasing vitality, potentially helpful for rekindling passion. Consuming it as a daily tonic, mixed with milk or warm water, could integrate it effortlessly into your routine.

Nutrition plays a pivotal role too. Incorporating warming and nourishing foods such as ghee, almonds, and sesame seeds can support overall vitality. These foods enhance Ojas, the essence of life that fuels energy, passion, and enthusiasm. Practically, this might involve a morning routine of chewing a handful of soaked almonds or drizzling ghee over cooked meals to sustain your body’s needs.

Beyond herbs and diet, the practice of Abhyanga, a self-massage using warm sesame oil, can relax the body, enhance circulation, and support a sense of well-being. Performing this regularly may improve your comfort not just with yourself, but also increase intimacy with your partner if practiced together, transforming an exercise into a meaningful ritual.

It’s crucial however, that you and your partner communicate openly and lovingly. Sometimes a guided couples’ therapy can be instrumental, offering you both a safe space to express emotions and desires without judgment. This can be more beneficial than initially expected. Encourage yourself to approach these methods with patience and openness, remembering that improving this connection will be a journey. Also, it’s important not to delay seeking professional therapy if you sense any psychological barriers.
