Hey, so first up, I’m glad to hear you stopped drinking alcohol, that’s a big step! But about the weight loss, stiffness in your ankle, bloating and all, let’s try to untangle this knot.
Sounds like your body’s going through a lot. Hyperthyroidism can definitely contribute to losing weight rapidly, since it speeds up the metabolism. This, combined with the alcohol withdrawal and those other issues, might be why you’re feeling so out of balance. Hyperthyroidism can also cause digestive issues, like your bloating and food malabsorption.
Panchakarma’s great, it’s detoxifying and helps with overall balance. But, having finished the treatment, it’s crucial to follow a supportive routine to maintain its benefits. Your “sandivata” diagnosis points to Vata imbalance in the joints – often causes issues like stiffness or pain.
So, let’s get practical. Start with your diet. Favor warm, cooked meals. Think of khichdi, with a bit of ghee, which aids digestion and pacifies Vata. Avoid raw, cold, and overly dry foods. Sipping warm water throughout the day can help ease digestion and minimize bloating too. Ginger tea is pretty good for digestive fire—try it about 20 minutes before meals.
For your ankle stiffness, a gentle self-massage (abhyanga) with warm sesame oil might help. Do it in the mornings, and follow with a warm bath. It should ease the stiffness but go gentle, don’t overdo it. Stay away from intense exercise; instead, try some gentle stretches, if possible.
Stress impacts the immune system, so practice some calming activities like meditation or pranayama (breathing exercises). Even 10-15 minutes a day can help.
But, hyperthyroidism can be tricky and needs regular medical attention, so do continue your follow-ups with your doctor. Ayurveda can support but shouldn’t replace necessary medical treatments. Always prioritize your health and safety first!
