To address the acidity, throat burning, and acid reflux you are experiencing, Ayurveda suggests a holistic approach. The issues you’re facing often result from an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs heat and transformation in the body. Begin by focusing on dietary and lifestyle modifications aimed at cooling and calming the digestive system.

Dietary changes are crucial. Avoid spicy, oily, and very sour foods, as they can further aggravate Pitta. Instead, incorporate cooling and alkaline foods like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens into your meals. Also, stay away from citrus fruits and tomatoes which can increase acidity. Opt for warming but not hot meals, emphasizing cooked vegetables and whole grains like quinoa or barley. Honey and milk can be soothing if consumed separately, not mixed together. Try eating in relaxed environment, chewing food thoroughly.

For behavioral adjustments, ensure you wait at least 2-3 hours after eating before lying down. When you do sleep, try elevating your head with an extra pillow to prevent reflux. Practicing yoga or gentle exercises daily can enhance digestion and reduce stress, which often worsens acidity. Stress-reduction techniques like pranayama or meditation can be especially effective.

Consider herbal remedies like a decoction of cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds, which can be consumed after meals to aid digestion and reduce acidity. Drinking Aloe vera juice also helps to soothe the esophagus and reduce acid levels.

If symptoms persist or worsen, consult an Ayurveda practitioner or healthcare professional for a more individualized treatment plan. Remember, moderation and consistency are key for achieving long-term benefits. Keep track of what improves or worsens symptoms to tailor an approach that works best for you.

Your experience with acidity and throat burning, alongside symptoms of acid reflux, is not uncommon. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, these symptoms can be linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs digestion and metabolism. Excess Pitta can lead to increased production of acid in the stomach.

Firstly, it’s crucial to maintain a gap of at least 2 to 3 hours between your evening meal and bedtime. This allows your digestive system to process the food adequately. Try to take a light dinner, easy to digest, with more cooked vegetables and whole grains while avoiding spicy, oily, and overly acidic foods.

Incorporating a mixture of cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds in your diet may help pacify Pitta and improve digestion. One practical way to do this is to boil a teaspoon of each in water, strain it, and drink it warm post-meal. Another helpful remedy is using aloe vera juice, as it can soothe the esophagus and stomach lining. Consume about a quarter-cup daily on an empty stomach.

To further balance Pitta, reduce your intake of stimulants like caffeine and alcohol, as they can aggravate the symptoms. Keeping your body hydrated is essential, but avoid drinking too much water while eating, as it might dilute digestive juices in the stomach.

Adding a moderate exercise routine, preferably in the morning, may also enhance digestion and circulation, reducing the chances of acid reflux. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking a consult from a healthcare professional for a comprehensive examination and treatment plan would be advisable.
