Enlarged Testicle and Urination Issues in My Husband - #49235

Client_a63e9a

Namaste! Could you kindly help me with my husband's situation (he is 55) - for several months he's been having one testicle noticeably enlarged. It is not very painful, although it's rather red. His urination is weakened (it just flows downwards) but not painful either, and it is just a bit more frequent than before. Are there any ayurvedic formulations, or diet and regimen changes, that could help in this case?

How long has your husband been experiencing the testicle enlargement?:

- More than 6 months

Has he noticed any other symptoms accompanying the enlargement?:

- No other symptoms

What is his current diet like?:

- High in fats, low in fiber

A single enlarged, red testicle for >6 months plus weak urine stream needs a urologist check (scrotal ultrasound ± urine/PSA tests). Ayurveda should be supportive, not standalone, until this is ruled out. Kindly consult a urologist for proper diagnosis

HELLO, Your husband is 55 and has been experiencing -one testicle enlarged for over 6 months -Mild redness, no significant pain -Urination changes= weak flow, slightly more frequent WHAT THIS COULD MEAN -Testicular swelling can occur due to fluid buildup (hydrocele), infection(epididymitis), cysts, or rarely tumors -Redness may indicate mild inflammation -Weak urine flow and frequent urination in men over 50 often relate to prostate enlargement (BPH) or urinary tract obstruction IMPORTANT Persistent testicular enlargement in men over 50 must be medically evaluated to rule out serious causes like cancer. Ayurveda can support healing INVESTIGATIONS NEEDED -Scrotal USG= checks testicle, epididymis, and fluid accumulation -Urine Analysis and Culture= rule out infection -PSA (prostate specific antigen) test=sreens for prostate issues -Blood tests= CBC, kidney function, liver function TREATMENT GOALS -reduce swelling in the testicle -improve urinar flow and bladder function -balance pitta-kapha dosha (inflammation+ fluid retention) and support vata (urine flow) -strengthens reproductive system and overall vitality -improve digestion and metabolism, since high fat, low fiber diet worsens kapha and vata issues INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) PUNARNAVA MANDUR= 2 tabs twice edaily after meals with warm water for 3 months =reduces swelling, supports kidneys ad urinary tract 2) GOKSHURA CAPSULE= 1 cap twice daily after meals for 3 months =improves urinary flow, strengthens reproductive system 3) VARUNADI KASHAYA= 20ml with warm water twice daily before meals for 2 months = supports bladder, reduces inflammation 4) CHANDRAPRABHA VATI= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 2 months =general urinary tonic, relieves frequent urination 5) ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk once daily for 3 months = improves vitality and immunity EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS 1) OIL MASSAGE= MAHANARAYAN OIL on lower abdomen, groin and thighs -improve circulation, reduces swelling, and balance vata -avoid directly massaging a hot or painful testicle LIFESTYLE AND DAILY HABITS -avoid prolonged sitting, walk frequently -maintain moderate sexual activity, avoid excess stress -wear loose cotton underwear to improve blood flow -avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity until swelling improves -stay hydrated with warm water avoid cold beverages YOGA ASANAS (improve circulation and reduce pelvic congestion) -setu bandhasana= strengthens pelvic muscles -supta baddha konasana= reduces pelvic congestion -viparita karani= helps venous return and reduces swelling PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= balances nervous system -bhramari= reduces stress and improves circulation -kapalbhati = improves digestion and metabolism, use mdoerately DIET -Increase fiber rich foods= whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits -Include light, easily digestible foods= moong dal, barley, pomegranate, cucumber -Avoid heavy, oily, fried foods, red meat, and excess sugar -Use ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric in cooking- improves digestion and reduces kapha -Drink warm water or herbal teas HOME REMEDIES -warm compress on groin to reduce mild discomfort and redness -Herbal decoction= punarnava, gokshura, varun- reduce swelling and support urinary flow -avoid cold baths and prolonged exposure to damp/cold environment CONSISTENCY= improvement may take 2-3 months with regular diet, medication and yoga This condition is treatable but needs medical evaluation first Lifestyle, yoga, pranayam and diet are crucial in long term recovery DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. Hello. I totally get why you’re worried about these changes in your husband’s body. An enlarged, reddish testicle combined with weak urine flow for months is definitely something to look into. The good thing is, in Ayurveda, we have a pretty good handle on this and some ways to deal with it. YOUR CONCERN – Your husband (55 years old) has one testicle that’s been enlarged for over 6 months – It’s red, but not super painful. – His urine flow is weak. – He’s peeing a bit more often. – His diet is heavy on fats and low on fiber. What it could be according to Ayurveda: This sounds like a Mutra-granthi + Vriddhi of Andakosha (scrotal swelling) issue, which can happen because: – Kapha and Pitta building up in the channels around the testicles. – Apana Vata being blocked. – The tissue in the testicle is inflamed. – His digestion is off, and the fatty diet is causing Ama (a kind of toxin buildup). Basically, it’s not just simple swelling but a long-term inflammatory buildup inside the testicle. Now, this is important: Because the swelling is only on one side, it’s red, it’s been there for months, and he’s having urine issues; it might be things like hydrocele, varicocele, chronic epididymo-orchitis, or even an early tumor. So, it’s a good idea to get a scrotal ultrasound and a PSA test done. Don’t freak out! It’s just to be safe. AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT INTERNAL MEDICATION 1. Kanchanar Guggulu: 2 tablets, twice a day after eating. This helps shrink growths and swelling. 2. Punarnava Mandur 2 tablets, twice a day. This helps with fluid buildup and inflammation. 3. Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tablets, twice a day. This is to help urine flow and prostate health. 4. Triphala Churna: 1 teaspoon at night with warm water. This helps clear out toxins and get digestion back on track. EXTERNAL CARE Gently massage the testicle area with Bala Ashwagandha Taila once a day after a warm bath. This helps with blood flow and reduces buildup. (Easy does it just gentle, upward strokes.) DIET PLANEat: – Bottle gourd – Pumpkin – Lauki – Moong dal – Barley – Pomegranate – Warm water ❌AVOID – Fried food – Red meat – Cheese – Too much oil – Alcohol – Sitting for too long Lifestyle changes: – Wear loose underwear – No hot baths – No bike riding – Walk for 30 minutes every day – Avoid constipation When will he start feeling better? If you stick to this plan: – Urine flow should improve in about 10–15 days. – Redness should go down in 2–3 weeks. – Swelling should start decreasing in 1–2 months. Don’t wait to get that ultrasound, though. You did the right thing by asking about this early. If we start treatment now, this is totally manageable and reversible. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Sincere thanks for this detailed answer with a lot of important information! We already have Kanchnar guggul and triphala churna, and in a short time I’ll get the other two. Dear doctor, could you kindly clarify one more thing - are Punarnava mandoor and gokshuradi guggul also to be taken after meals and can all these formulation be taken together?

Namaste thank you for sharing your husbands condition in detail A testicle remaining enlarged for more than six months along with redness and change in urine flow is not something to ignore even if pain is minimal From an ayurvedic point of view this usually indicates a long standing vata kapha imbalance affecting the mutravaha and shukravaha srotas along with ama accumulation due to heavy fatty low fiber diet This leads to stagnation swelling and weakness of local circulation and urinary flow Redness shows mild pitta involvement Because the condition is chronic it needs sustained correction and it is also very important that basic investigations like scrotal ultrasound and prostate evaluation are done to rule out conditions like hydrocele varicocele chronic infection or prostate enlargement before relying only on medicines Ayurvedic management usually focuses on reducing swelling clearing channels correcting digestion and improving urinary function Medicines like kanchanar guggulu punarnavadi preparations gokshuradi guggulu or chandraprabha vati are commonly considered but only under guidance of a qualified ayurvedic doctor Diet must be corrected by reducing oily fried heavy foods and increasing simple warm freshly cooked meals with vegetables Adequate warm water gentle daily walking avoiding long sitting and wearing loose comfortable undergarments are very important Constipation if present must be corrected as it worsens pelvic conditions With proper evaluation regular treatment and disciplined lifestyle improvement is usually gradual over weeks to months and not immediat
