Doctors' responses

- These symptoms could be related to Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN), which is nerve pain involving the trigeminal nerve that supplies the face, teeth, and jaw. However, similar symptoms can also arise from: - Chronic sinusitis or throat infection - Dental issues (impacted tooth, gum disease) - Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction - Neuropathic pain due to cervical spine issues 👉 A neurologist or ENT specialist usually confirms TN with clinical examination and imaging (MRI/CT). Rx 1.Ashwagandha capsules 1 cap twice daily with warm milk after meals 2…Bala churna 1/2 tsp twice daily with water after meals 3.Tulsi tablets 1 tab twice daily after meals with water 4.Dashmoolarishta 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals *Bilva taila- 2 drops in each ear twice daily *Anu taila- 2 drops in each nostril once in the morning 🥗 Diet & Lifestyle - Include: Warm, easily digestible foods (khichdi, moong dal, ghee in moderation). - Avoid: Cold, dry, and excessively spicy foods (they aggravate Vata). - Hydration: Warm water or herbal teas (ginger, tulsi). - Yoga & Pranayama: Anulom Vilom, Bhramari (calms nerves), gentle neck and face stretches. - Oil therapies: Mahanarayan Taila gentle massage around jaw/neck; Nasya (medicated oil drops in nose) under supervision.

-You have chronic ear, throat, and tooth pain, but it’s less typical for trigeminal neuralgia, which usually causes sharp, shock-like facial pain with triggers. Possible causes include: -Ear or throat infection -Dental problems (tooth decay, gum disease) -TMJ disorder -Less commonly, nerve pain - firstly See ENT and dentist to rule out infections or dental issues, for proper diagnosis

Hello I get how worrying it is when pain moves from your ear to your throat, and now your teeth, especially since it has been going on for months. This can be really uncomfortable and confusing. But dont worry we are here to help you out 😊 What’s most likely going on? Your symptoms don’t seem like typical Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) Normal TN causes: – Sudden, electric-shock like pain – On one side of your face – Triggered by touching your face, chewing, or talking – Lasts seconds or minutes Your pain is: – Constant – Deep – Spreading (ear to throat to teeth) – Mild to medium This seems more like: Ongoing nerve irritation + something going on with your ears, nose, throat, or teeth. Usual hidden causes: – Ongoing sinus infection – Old tooth infection or root canal – Tension in your jaw joint (TMJ) – Throat reflux or infected tonsil crypts – Neck muscle spasms pressing on nerves These things bugs cranial nerves (including the trigeminal nerve), but it’s not the same as TN. Why are the ear, throat, and teeth linked? They all share the same nerve network: – Trigeminal nerve – Glossopharyngeal nerve – Facial nerve If one of these is constantly irritated, the pain can spread. What does Ayurveda say? This is a combo of: – Vata (nerve pain) – Pitta (burning, irritation) – Ama (hidden infection/toxins) So, treatment should: – Calm nerves – Get rid of infection – Lessen irritation – Clear blocked pathways Ayurvedic treatment plan Nerve-calming medicines Brahmi Vati – 1 tablet, twice a day Ashwagandha Churna – ½ teaspoon at night with warm milk Godanti Bhasma – 250 mg, twice a day For hidden ear, nose, throat, or teeth infections 1 Gandhak Rasayan – 1 tablet, twice a day 2 Triphala Guggulu – 2 tablets, twice a day These clean: – Sinuses – Tonsils – Tooth roots – Jaw irritation For nerve and ear pain 1 Dashmoola Kwath – 30 ml, twice a day 2.Maha Vatavidhwans Rasa – 1 tablet once a day (after eating) EXTERNAL CARE Daily oil massage Warm Ksheerabala Taila Massage: – Behind ears – Jaw joints – Neck – Temples MORNING –Nasal drops (Nasya) Put 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril in the morning. This helps heal cranial nerves directly. DIET PLANAvoid: – Cold food – Ice water – Yogurt – Bakery stuff –Sour food – Chewing gum INCLUDE – Warm Food – Ghee – Garlic – Turmeric – Ginger tea When to worry? Get an MRI only if: – Really bad, electric shock-like pain on one side – Numbness in your face – Sudden hearing loss Right now, your symptoms can be treated and fixed. You have ongoing nerve irritation from something in your ears, nose, throat, or teeth, which Ayurveda can really help with. With the right meds + oil + nasal drops, the pain usually gets better in 3–6 weeks. You’re not permanently damaged—just irritated! Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

HELLO, In Ayurveda, ear, throat, teeth, and facial nerves are closely connected and mainly governed by Vata dosha with involvement of pitta and kapha in chronic cases WHAT MAY BE HAPPENING -Chronic vata imbalance-> causes nerve related pain, dryness, pulling or dull aching sensations -Mild but persistent pain for > 6 months suggests a vata pradhana chronic condition rather than acute infection -No clear triggers+ tooth and ear pain together may resemble KARNA SHOOLA (ear pain) KANTHA SHOOLA (throat discomfort) DANTA SHOOLA (tooth pain) Sometimes overlaps with Ardita/ nerve irritation, which people often compare with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) Ayurvedically, this does not always meal trigeminal neuralgia. Many vata-kapha conditions mimic nerve pain and are reversible with proper care TREATMENT GOALS -pacify aggravated vata -reduce nerve irritation and subtle inflammation -improve circulation to ear-throat-jaw region -nourish nerves -prevent progression into severe neuralgic pain -improve overall strength and immunity INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk after meals for 12 weeks =strengthens and nourishes nerve tissue, reduces nerve sensitivity, controls chronic vata pain, prevents progression to severe neuralgic pain 2) DASHMOOLA KASHAYA= 20 ml + equal warm water twice daily before meals for 8 weeks =best classical formulation for deep seated vata pain , reduces inflamamtion around nerves, improves circulation in ear neck jaw region 3) YOGARAJ GUGGULU= 1 tab twice daily after meals with warm water for 8 weeks =corrects vata imbalance at root level, useful in chronic pain of joints, nerves, jaw, prevents stiffess and subtle nerve compression 4) BRAHMI VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals with warm water for 12 weeks =calms nerve irritability, improves pain tolerance, reduces anxiety, stress related aggravation of pain, support long term nerve stability 5) KAMDUDHA RAS= 1 tab once daily after lunch for 6 weeks =pacifies pitta involvement, reduces throat discomfort, irritation, prevent inflammation induced nerve sensitivity EXTERNAL THERAPIES 1) OIL MASSAGE- HEAD, NECK AND JAW -warm Mahanarayan taila -daily =relieves nerve compression and stiffness 2) EAR OIL THERAPY- ksheerbala taila -warm medicated oil drops in ears -reduces ear pain, dryness, nerve irritation -especially useful in chronic vata disorders 3) GANDUSHA (oil pulling) -sesame oil =strengthens teeth, jaw nerves, throat 4) NASYA= instil 2 drops of Anu taila in each nostril daily morning =nourishes nerves of head and neck -very effective for ENT related vata problems DIET -warm, freshly cooked meals -rice, wheat , oats -milk, ghee -moong dal, well cooked vegetables -almonds soaked and peeled -herbal teas- ginger, licorice in mild quantiity AVOID -cold food and drinks -excess tea and coffee -dry snacks, packaged foods -very spicy, sour foods -excess chewing gum aggravates jaw nerves LIFESTYLE CHANGES -avoid late night -protect ears from cold wind -avoid excessive mobile use with head bent -maintain good posture -do not suppress natural urges -gentle daily routine is key YOGA ASANAS -bhujangasana -setu bandhasana -balasana -makarasana PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= 10-15 min -Bhramari= very helpful for ear and nerve pain -Deep slow breathing HOME REMEDIES -warm oil massage around jaw and neck before sleep -turmeric + warm milk at night -steam inhalation with plain water -gargling with warm water + pinch of turmeric and salt Your symptoms do not automatically mean trigeminal neuralgia Chronic mild pain is often vata related and reversible Ayurveda focuses on root cause, not symptoms suppression -Consistency is more important than quick relief

With correct Ayurvedic care, lifestyle correction and patience significant relief is possible DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

🔍 First: Is this Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN)? Based on what you described, classic Trigeminal Neuralgia is LESS likely, though it can still be a differential diagnosis. Typical TN pain looks like: ⚡ Sudden, electric-shock–like pain Lasts seconds to minutes Triggered by touching face, brushing teeth, talking, cold air Usually severe and sharp Your symptoms: ✔ Constant ear pain ✔ Constant throat pain ✔ Tooth discomfort ✔ Mild but persistent ✔ No clear triggers 👉 This pattern does NOT fit classical TN, which is episodic and sharp. ✅ More likely causes (very common & often missed) 1️⃣ Referred Pain from Throat / Neck / Jaw Chronic throat irritation Tonsillar or pharyngeal inflammation Cervical spine tension ➡ Pain can travel to ear and teeth 2️⃣ Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia (more likely than TN) Causes pain in throat, ear, base of tongue Pain may be dull or aching in chronic cases Often confused with TN 3️⃣ TMJ (Jaw Joint) Dysfunction Can cause: Ear pain (very common) Tooth sensitivity Throat tightness Worse with stress, clenching, grinding 4️⃣ Chronic Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Ear fullness + dull pain Often associated with throat irritation or acidity Sound muffling may or may not be present 5️⃣ Silent Acidity (LPR – Laryngopharyngeal reflux) Very important and often overlooked: Causes chronic throat pain Ear pain without infection Tooth sensitivity No classic heartburn sometimes 🚨 Red Flags (Please read) If you have ANY of these, see an ENT / Neurologist urgently: Progressive pain getting worse Facial numbness or weakness Difficulty swallowing Weight loss One-sided hearing loss Severe electric-shock pain (You haven’t mentioned these, which is reassuring.) 🌿 What You Can Do NOW (Safe & Helpful) 🔹 Step 1: Rule out serious causes Please get: ENT evaluation (throat + ear endoscopy if needed) Dental check (even hidden root issues can refer pain) If pain persists → MRI brain with trigeminal protocol (only if advised) 🌿 Ayurvedic Support (Adjunct – very useful) For nerve & referred pain: Ashwagandha churna – ½ tsp at night with warm milk Brihat Vata Chintamani Ras (low dose, under supervision) Dashmool kwath – reduces nerve & musculoskeletal pain For throat & ear support: Yashtimadhu churna – ¼ tsp + honey, twice daily Anu taila – 2 drops each nostril in the morning (if no sinus block) If acidity suspected: Avipattikar churna – ½ tsp at night 🧘 Lifestyle (Very Important) Avoid late dinners Reduce phone/laptop neck strain Gentle neck stretches Avoid chewing gum excessively Warm water gargles daily
