You’re describing a chronic Vata-dominant constipation with Ama and Pitta involvement (long-standing 14 years). In such cases, strong laxatives alone won’t fix the root. You need Vata anuloman + Agni correction + Ama reduction together. Let’s keep it simple and practical: 1. First step – Diet correction (MOST important) Right now your diet is low in fiber and probably dry, which worsens Vata. Start this: Eat warm, freshly cooked, easy-to-digest food Add 1–2 teaspoons of ghee in every meal Include: Moong dal, khichdi Soft cooked vegetables (lauki, tori, pumpkin) Avoid: Dry foods (roasted, biscuits, namkeen) Excess raw salads Cold food/drinks Take buttermilk (chaas) in afternoon with a pinch of roasted jeera + rock salt 2. Main medicine for constipation Gandharvahastadi oil → 2 teaspoons at night with warm water or milk This is best for: Chronic constipation Vata anuloman (downward movement correction) Soft, regular bowel movement 3. Daily routine changes Drink 1 glass warm water in morning Don’t suppress natural urge Fix a regular time for bowel habit (morning) Walk daily (20–30 minutes) 4. Important for long-term relief Since it’s 14 years old, you must: Avoid dependency on harsh OTC laxatives Focus on regularity, lubrication (ghee), and digestion 5. Optional support (if needed later) If heaviness, gas, Ama signs persist: Mild deepan-pachan medicines can be added (but not strong heating ones)

I have leaky gut issue, should i clear it first or constipation. I am facing so many issue because of that. I noticed when i took antibiotics my constipation was clear after dose completed it comes again. What should i do?

You don’t need to treat “leaky gut” and constipation as two separate problems—they’re actually part of the same underlying issue. What we call “leaky gut” (increased intestinal permeability) usually happens because of chronic inflammation in the gut. And this inflammation is very often driven by foods or food combinations that don’t suit your individual digestion. Over time, this ongoing irritation disturbs normal bowel function, leading to irregularity and constipation. So in your case, both are interconnected, not separate conditions to fix one after the other. The key is to understand that your gut is reacting to something consistently. You’ve already observed an important clue—antibiotics temporarily relieved your constipation. This suggests there may be some imbalance in gut flora, but antibiotics are not a solution because they don’t fix the root cause and can worsen long-term gut health. What you should focus on instead: Identify and eliminate trigger foods This is the most important step, and it’s highly individual. Some common triggers include incompatible food combinations, heavy-to-digest foods, excess fermented/junk foods, or even certain “healthy” foods that don’t suit your agni. You’ve likely already noticed some triggers—make a clear list and strictly avoid them. Build a personalized, simple diet Stick to foods that feel light, digest well, and don’t cause bloating, heaviness, or discomfort. Keep meals consistent and avoid experimenting too much during the healing phase. Correct bowel habits gradually Don’t force strong laxatives. Instead, support anulomana gently through diet (warm food, adequate fats, hydration) and mild herbal support if needed. Support gut healing Once inflammation reduces, the gut lining naturally starts healing. Medicines can support this, but they work best only when diet is correct. Add mild daily movement Simple walking or light exercise improves gut motility and reduces stagnation. If you follow this approach consistently, both the “leaky gut” and constipation will improve together. The goal is not to chase symptoms, but to calm the underlying inflammation and restore normal gut function.

●The Importance of a Flatulence-Reducing Diet The first step to preventing constipation is a flatulence-reducing diet. Avoid: Cold food and drinks, salads, dried fruits, excessive lentils and kidney beans, stale food Adopt: Warm, fresh food, well-cooked vegetables, warm water, and a small amount of oil or ghee ●Triphala • 1 to 1 teaspoon of Triphala • 1 cup of warm water • Soak for 5-10 minutes Triphala: The Best Ayurvedic Remedy This is Ayurveda’s most balanced treatment for constipation. How to consume: • Take Triphala at night. If you have frequent urination at night, take Triphala in the morning on an empty stomach. ●Why is fiber important? Fiber softens and makes stools more mobile. Include in your diet: • Porridge • Oats • Wheat bran • Whole grains • Fresh fruits and vegetables Fiber + water = easier bowel movements. ●Castor Oil (in special circumstances) Method – • Ginger tea • Add 2 teaspoons of castor oil • Consume at night. Do not use regularly as it can be habit-forming. ●Using Flaxseed At night • 1 teaspoon of flaxseed • Boil in 1 cup of water • Drink with the seeds. This lubricates and speeds up bowel movements.

Namaste, Long-term constipation for 14 years with vata imbalance and ama needs a consistent and gentle approach, not strong or sudden treatments. Simple measures that may help: Increase fiber in diet – include fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Drink warm water regularly, especially in the morning. Take 1–2 tsp ghee in warm food or milk to help lubrication. Maintain fixed meal and sleep timings. Do daily walking or light yoga to improve bowel movement. Avoid dry, cold, processed, and irregular eating habits. Do not depend too much on strong laxatives, as they may worsen vata over time. Improving digestion slowly will help reduce ama and regulate bowels. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support constipation include: Triphala Churna – traditionally used for gentle bowel regulation. Gandharvahastadi Taila – sometimes used to support bowel movement and reduce vata. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.
