How to balance hormones naturally for low libido in women over 50 with racing thoughts? - #52542
I have NO libido and want a herbal way to balance out my hormones in my mid 50s. I am a woman and I do NOT have hot flashes, but I do suffer from having racing thoughts that keep me active and not sleepy until 4am.
Doctors' responses
Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Low libido and racing thoughts, especially in women over 50, can be connected to Vata and Pitta imbalances. Vata dosha, when aggravated, can lead to racing thoughts and insomnia due to its qualities of movement and irregularity. Pitta dosha, though not causing hot flashes in your case, can still affect hormonal balance, leading to a lack of libido.
In Ayurveda, libido is related to the balance of hormones and the health of the reproductive tissues (Shukra Dhatu). A disturbed Vata can lead to a depletion of these tissues, while an imbalance in Agni (digestive fire) can affect the nourishment and transformation of body tissues.
The systemic imbalance involves: - Vata: Aggravation leading to racing thoughts and insomnia. - Pitta: Subtle imbalance affecting hormonal regulation without causing heat symptoms like hot flashes. - Agni: Potential irregularity impacting tissue nourishment and hormone synthesis.
