Doctors' responses
Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
In Ayurveda, erectile dysfunction, hair loss, and increasing weakness can be interconnected through the balance of the Vata and Pitta doshas, along with the state of your Agni (digestive fire) and Ojas (vital energy). As we age, Vata naturally increases, leading to dryness, weakness, and degenerative changes. Your controlled diabetes may still influence your body’s energy levels and tissue nourishment, potentially affecting your Ojas and leading to weakness and hair loss.
Erectile dysfunction, especially with age, can be linked to Vata imbalance, causing irregularities and weakness in the reproductive tissues. The loss of hair and increasing weakness suggest an imbalance in Pitta, which governs heat and transformation, and also Vata, which can lead to dryness and depletion.
Ayurveda views these symptoms as a systemic imbalance rather than isolated issues. The balance between your doshas, the state of your Agni, and the nourishment of your tissues are all crucial. Your exercise and nutritional habits are beneficial, but specific adjustments may be needed to address your symptoms more effectively.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How long have you been experiencing erectile dysfunction? Please specify if it’s less than 1 month, 1-6 months, 6 months to 1 year, or more than 1 year. 2. How would you describe the intensity of your erectile dysfunction? Are there occasional difficulties, frequent but manageable issues, consistent issues, or no erections at all? 3. Have you noticed any changes in your libido or sexual desire? Would you say there has been no change, a slight decrease, a moderate decrease, or a significant decrease? 4. How do you feel about your current energy levels? Are you very energetic, moderately energetic, low energy, or very low energy? 5. What does your exercise routine typically include? Is it mainly cardio exercises, strength training, yoga or flexibility exercises, or a mix of all? 6. How would you rate your overall nutritional intake? Is it very balanced and healthy, mostly healthy with some indulgences, occasionally healthy, or poor nutrition? 7. Have you experienced any other symptoms, like fatigue or mood changes? If so, are they occasional fatigue, frequent fatigue, or mood changes or depression?
Your detailed answers will help the doctors provide a more tailored Ayurvedic treatment plan.
