In Ayurveda, premature graying of hair is known as Palitya. It is primarily considered a Pitta Dosha disorder. When excess heat (Tejas) from the body accumulates in the hair follicles, it “burns” the natural pigment (Ranjaka Pitta), leading to gray or white hair. The Ayurvedic View: Is Reversal Possible? From an Ayurvedic standpoint, the answer depends on the cause: Reversible: If the graying is due to recent stress, poor diet, or environmental heat, and the hair follicle is still active, the color can often be restored or the progression significantly slowed. Irreversible: If graying is due to “Kala” (natural aging) or deep genetic factors, Ayurveda focuses on “Rasayana” (rejuvenation) to prevent further graying rather than a complete reversal of existing white strands. What to Eat & Drink (Pitta-Pacifying & Nutritive) To darken hair, you must nourish the Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue) and cool the Bhrajaka Pitta. 1. The “Hair Hero”: Amalaki (Indian Gooseberry) Amla is the most potent Rasayana for hair. It is rich in Vitamin C and has a unique “Sheeta Virya” (cooling potency) that neutralizes the heat causing graying. How to consume: Drink 20 ml of fresh Amla juice every morning on an empty stomach, or eat one fermented/preserved Amla (Murabba) daily. 2. Bhringraj (The Ruler of Hair) While usually applied externally, consuming Bhringraj internally is a classical method to restore color. It improves the quality of the “Rakta” which nourishes the hair roots. How to consume: You can find Bhringraj powder; take half a teaspoon with honey or ghee twice a day. 3. Black Sesame Seeds (Krishna Tila) Black sesame seeds are considered superior for hair darkening because they are loaded with minerals and “Snehana” (oleation) properties that strengthen the hair shaft and restore melanin. How to consume: Chew one teaspoon of dry-roasted black sesame seeds daily, followed by a glass of lukewarm water. 4. Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta) In the coastal regions of India, curry leaves are the secret to long-lasting dark hair. They contain specific antioxidants and iron that support the Ranjaka Pitta. How to consume: Blend 10–15 fresh leaves into buttermilk (Chaas) and drink it daily during lunch. 5. Iron-Rich Foods Ayurveda links hair color to the quality of your blood. Foods: Include black raisins (soaked overnight), pomegranate juice, and dates. These improve hemoglobin, which ensures the “Prana” (life force) reaches the scalp. Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy Recommendations 1. Narasimha Rasayanam This is a medicated jam (Lehyam) used specifically for hair growth, graying, and physical strength. It is a powerful “Keshya” (hair-boosting) tonic. Dose: 1 teaspoon twice daily, followed by a cup of warm milk. 2. Kesini Oil (External) While you asked for foods, internal treatment for graying is significantly more effective when paired with this specific medicated oil. It contains Indigo and Amla to darken hair naturally over time. Usage: Massage into the scalp 3 times a week, leaving it for at least an hour before washing with a natural cleanser. Foods to Avoid (The “Pitta” Triggers) If you eat these, the darkening foods won’t work effectively: Excessive Salt: Salt is known in Ayurveda to accelerate hair loss and graying. Spicy/Sour Foods: Vinegar, fermented pickles, and excessive chilies increase the heat that “cooks” the hair pigment. Very Hot Coffee/Tea: These increase systemic heat.

food alone usually cannot reverse gray/white hair back to its original color—especially if it’s been more than 3 years. But nutrition can slow further graying and improve hair quality, and in some cases (if caused by deficiencies), partial darkening can happen. –Internal Medicines Bhringrajasava – 15 ml + equal water, twice daily after food Amla Churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with lukewarm water Brahmi Vati – 1 tablet twice daily (for stress support) – External Treatment Bhringraj Taila / Neelibhringadi Taila → Apply on scalp, 3–4 times/week (leave overnight or at least 1–2 hrs) — Pathya (Diet Advice) Include: Amla, curry leaves, black sesame (til), green vegetables, milk Avoid: Excess spicy, oily, junk food, tea/coffee in excess – Lifestyle Reduce stress (pranayama, meditation) Proper sleep (7–8 hours) Avoid late nights

I’ll be very honest with you, there is a lot of misinformation around this. > Food or drinks alone cannot turn already white/grey hair completely black again overnight. But if greying has started early, we can only slow it down and sometimes in my patients I have seen them regain some pigmentation by correcting the root cause… a lot depends on your diet immunity genetics and lifestyle. In my practice, the most common causes I see are Vitamin B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, stress, and weak digestion. So instead of random remedies, it’s important to correct the root cause. I would suggest getting Vitamin B12, Ferritin, and Thyroid (TSH) tested once. Many patients see improvement after correcting deficiencies. For support, you can take: •Amla daily (juice or powder) •Bhringraj capsules or churna •Add black sesame seeds and a little ghee in diet Also, avoid late nights and excess tea/coffee, these quietly worsen greying. Honestly, expecting full reversal is not realistic. But we can definitely work on or stopping further crying concert for a more personalised plan

You are experienceing long term greying with moderate stress level and diet that legs specific focus this condition pointing towards the palitya Which is caused by embalance of Pitta dosa While reversing your long term condition of Grey hearing through diet alone is very difficult We will have to focus on balance with an Nourish your bone tissue to stabilize the condition to prevent further greying and improve your hair for future 1) Narasimha Rasayanam- 1 tsp twice daily With warm Milk or Honey after food 2) Kesini Capsules-1-Capsules twice daily after food 3) Neelibringadi Keratailam apply to scalp 30 minutes before washing massage gently 4)Kesini Herbal Hair Wash - use as a shampoo instead of other chemical shampoo Include Amla aur Amla juice in your daily diet include Karela Lauki taroi green leafy vegetables in your diet include walnut and Almonds and curry leaf in your diet Avoid excessive salty spicy fried food fermented item like curd or vinegar Practice Pranayam daily ensure 7 to 8 hour of sleep Regular head massage with oil As your condition of greying here is more than 3 years so the result will take at least 3 to 6 month to see visible changes

Once hair has turned completely white, it is very difficult to bring it back to original color fully. But you can slow further greying and sometimes get mild improvement with proper care. Grey hair mainly happens due to pitta imbalance, nutrition deficiency, and stress. Focus on nourishment. Include in diet: Amla (fresh or powder) daily, black sesame seeds (1 tsp), curry leaves, soaked almonds, milk, and ghee (1 tsp daily). These support hair pigmentation. Avoid: Excess spicy, sour, junk food, smoking, and late nights. These increase hair greying. Drink: You can take amla juice 20 ml daily on empty stomach or amla powder 3 grams daily. Lifestyle is important. Sleep on time, manage stress, and avoid overthinking. Chronic stress accelerates greying. Oil your hair regularly with coconut oil or bhringraj oil 3–4 times a week. Medicines: Amla churna 3 grams daily. Bhringraj churna 3 grams daily. Brahmi vati 1 tablet twice daily after food. These help in slowing greying and improving hair quality. Simple understanding: You may not get full black hair again, but you can reduce further greying and improve hair health. Consistency for few months is needed.
