••As an Ayurvedic perspective, the management of Madhumeha (Diabetes) focuses on clearing Aama (toxins) and balancing Kapha while ensuring the patient’s strength (Bala) is maintained. Regarding Glysikot Granules ••Glysikot is a standard Ayurvedic formulation (often containing ingredients like Amrita, Haridra, and Dhanyaka) used to support glucose metabolism. ••Is it okay to take? Generally, yes, but with a major caution: because she is already on a heavy regimen of modern anti-diabetics (Glimisave M2, Voglibose, and Januvia), adding Glysikot increases the risk of additive effects. ••The Risk: While her levels are currently high, Ayurvedic herbs can sometimes “kick in” unexpectedly. In a sedentary 85-year-old, we must avoid a sudden crash in blood sugar. ••In Ayurveda, chronic UTIs in diabetic patients are often due to Mutravaha Srotas (urinary tract) imbalances caused by high sugar in the urine. 1.Chandraprabha Vati: (1-0-1 after food with normal water )Often considered the “gold standard” for elderly urinary issues and diabetes complications. It helps tone the kidneys and may assist in reducing frequency or burning during urination. ••For sugar…Add Nishamalaki: (1 tsf both time after food with normal water )A simple, classical combination of Amala (Indian Gooseberry) and Haldi (Turmeric). It is highly effective for diabetic complications and is gentle on the elderly.
Much appreciated, thank you so much 🙏

At her age and with history of stroke, consistently high sugars around 250+ need close medical supervision. Glysikot granules can be supportive, but they should not replace or excessively overlap with her current diabetes medicines. Since she already takes multiple antidiabetic medicines, adding too many herbal medicines without monitoring may sometimes cause fluctuations or interact with appetite and digestion. You may continue Glysikot in low dose for now if she is tolerating it well. * Glysikot granules – 1 teaspoon twice daily before food with lukewarm water Keep diet simple with controlled rice/sweets intake and adequate hydration. Since she has recurrent UTI, good hydration and regular urine monitoring are important. Most important now is: * Regular fasting/post-meal sugar monitoring * Kidney function check * HbA1c review * Physician review for medicine adjustment, as current control is inadequate Avoid adding many extra medicines at once at this age.
