Doctors’ responses
Your symptoms of constipation, fissures, high LDL and HDL, and poor sleep suggest a need to address Vata and Pitta imbalances. While managing BP and fatty liver, Ayurvedic treatment can complement your current regimen.
To relieve constipation and fissures, take Triphala Churna (1 teaspoon with warm water at bedtime) to regulate bowel movements and aid detoxification. Avipattikar Churna can also help manage acidity and improve digestion. For managing stress and promoting better sleep, Brahmi or Ashwagandha tablets (500 mg twice daily) are beneficial. Apply Jatyadi Taila externally for fissure healing.
Incorporate a Pitta-pacifying diet with plenty of fiber, warm water, and avoid spicy and oily foods. Regular light exercise, yoga, and pranayama (like Anulom Vilom) will help balance BP, improve digestion, and reduce stress. Managing your lifestyle holistically with these measures will improve your overall well-being.

At 58 years old, struggling with inadequate sleep, fissures, constipation, and managing high LDL and HDL cholesterol levels along with high blood pressure presents a complex health scenario that can benefit from an integrative approach, particularly through Ayurveda. Sleep disturbances can often exacerbate gastrointestinal issues and contribute to overall health challenges, including managing blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
To improve sleep quality, establishing a calming nighttime routine is essential. Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, gentle yoga, or meditation before bed can help calm the mind and prepare the body for restful sleep. Additionally, avoiding stimulants like caffeine and heavy meals in the evening can also promote better sleep.
For the fissures and constipation, focusing on dietary modifications can be beneficial. A fiber-rich diet, including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes, can help ease bowel movements and reduce strain. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is vital to stay hydrated and support digestive health. Incorporating foods like psyllium husk or flaxseeds can add bulk to the stool and promote regularity. Additionally, consuming warm herbal teas, such as those made with ginger or peppermint, can aid digestion.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, incorporating herbs like Triphala can be particularly helpful for constipation. This gentle herbal formulation supports regular bowel movements and helps cleanse the digestive tract. Ghee (clarified butter) is also considered beneficial, as it can lubricate the intestines and promote easier elimination.
Regarding managing cholesterol levels and blood pressure, continuing to follow your prescribed medications is crucial, but lifestyle changes can enhance their effectiveness. Regular physical activity, even in moderate forms like walking or cycling, can significantly improve cardiovascular health. Incorporating heart-healthy foods such as oats, nuts, and fatty fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids can help balance cholesterol levels.
Additionally, incorporating turmeric and garlic into your diet can also provide anti-inflammatory benefits and support heart health. Practicing stress management techniques can help lower blood pressure; mindfulness practices or engaging in hobbies that bring joy can alleviate stress.
It's essential to work closely with your healthcare provider to monitor your condition and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. With a comprehensive approach that includes dietary changes, herbal remedies, and lifestyle modifications, it is possible to improve your sleep quality, manage constipation and fissures, and support overall cardiovascular health, ultimately leading to a better quality of life.

Oh, it sounds like you're juggling quite a bit there! Let's see if I can help you sort things out with some Ayurvedic wisdom. Your description suggests a mix of imbalances, likely involving all three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Fist, the constipation and fissures. Constipation often relates to a Vata imbalance, particularly in the Apana Vayu, which governs downward elimination. It's important to maintain regular bowel movements, so you might consider Triphala churna before bedtime. Just a teaspoon mixed with warm water can be gentle but effective at night. Keeping your Agni (digestive fire) balanced is crucial, so focus on warm, easy-to-digest foods, avoiding excessive cold or raw items.
The lack of sleep might be fueled by Vata and Pitta disturbances, especially if the mind's racing or you’re feeling irritable or easily agitated. Try drinking some warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg before bed. Or if you’re vegan, an almond or oat milk works too.
Managing stress levels with meditation or slow, deep breathing (Pranayama) is also super beneficial. A Brahmi or Ashwagandha supplement could help calm your mind but do check with your healthcare provider since you’re already taking other meds. Daruharidra (Indian barbery) can be good to suppory liver health, a consideration with fatty liver issues.
Just a heads-up—ensure these suggestions don't interfere with your Western medications. You’re already on a few, especially Rosuwas for cholesterol which is important. So always best to talk with your physician before introducing new supplements.
For diet, go for more fiber-rich foods like fresh fruits and steamed veggies—while steering clear of too many fried or heavy meals. A little daily exercise, even a gentle walk, goes a long way for digestion and keeps your energy flowing too.
BP-wise, continue monitoring it and stay in touch with your doc. If anxiety over health is keeping you awake, expressing concerns to your doctor could beeleviate some of that mental burden—don’t keep it all inside.
This can seem like a lot, but small, steady changes often make big impacts on overall well-being! Drink plenty, rest when you can, and it all eventually comes together. 😊
