Doctors' responses

Namaste Bishwa, When were the blockages and stent placement diagnosed? Have you undergone tests like lipid profile, echocardiogram, or stress test recently? Are you on blood thinners, cholesterol-lowering medications, or other heart-related treatments? Do you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or fatigue? Since smoking is a major risk factor, are you open to quitting or reducing it? Your current diet, physical activity level, and stress management techniques will also play a crucial role in reversing or slowing plaque buildup through Ayurvedic and lifestyle interventions.

Hello Bishwa,

Combination of modern medical treatments, lifestyle changes, and supportive Ayurvedic approaches. In Ayurvedic research, herbs like Terminalia arjuna and Turmeric (Curcuma longa) have shown potential in supporting heart health. Arjuna is known to strengthen cardiac muscles and improve blood circulation, while curcumin in turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may reduce plaque buildup. Research supports their role in enhancing cardiovascular function. Quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet low in saturated fats, and engaging in regular exercise are crucial steps in preventing further blockages. Medical treatments such as medications, angioplasty, or additional stenting may be necessary depending on the severity of the blockage. Consulting both a cardiologist and an Ayurvedic practitioner ensures a personalized, safe, and effective treatment plan. This integrative approach can help reduce blockages, support heart function, and improve overall well-being. Having said that, it is very important to analyse your case in terms of your personal details, food and lifestyle history and to study whatever reports and surgical reports that are there and to examine you in terms of Ayurvedic perspective of diagnosis to help you better.

Alright, so you’ve got some serious blockage issues going on. First off, it’s crucial to listen to your docs and prioritize safety, especially with those stents. They usually have a good handle on things. But from an Ayurvedic perspective, there are definitely a few things you can work on to help your overall health and maybe ease the burden on your body.

First, smoking’s gotta go. It’s a tough beast to slay, but every cigarette you ditch can help your cardiovascular system. Maybe try swapping smoking habits with meditative deep breathing techniques or yoga, focusing on pranayama like Anulom Vilom, which can help calm the mind and improve lung function.

And, let’s get moving. Regular walks can be fantastic for getting the circulation going and shedding some of that extra weight. Aim for 30 minutes a day, brisk if you can manage, but just getting out there’s a good start.

From the dietary side, Ayurveda recommends light, easy-to-digest foods to keep your digestive “agni” or fire strong. You might wanna try warm, cooked meals over raw, cold ones. Trikatu (a mix of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger) can help boost metabolism. Just sprinkle a bit on your food. And including guggulu - a resin known for its ‘lekhana’ or scraping action - might aid in reducing that lipid blockage. Guggulu is often used with other herbs, so it might be good to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for a proper formula.

Oh, and as for stress management, don’t underestimate it! High-stress levels can mess with your heart, so meditation or even just sitting quietly for 10 minutes a day can make a difference.

While Ayurveda offers tools that support heart health, they should never replace conventional treatments for artery blockages. Keep in touch with your healthcare provider for any change or emergencies, cuz those need immediate attention.
