I have low stamina while running; I feel a lack of oxygen and can't run long. Help me to increase stamina so that i can do running and other exercises.i also do gym for a long time but no effects or muscle growth seen

Feeling a lack of stamina and difficulty in breathing while running and exercising can be frustrating, but Ayurveda offers some valuable insights that might help you. a key factor here could be Vata imbalance or even a weak agni, the digestive fire which may be affecting your body’s ability to absorb nutrients properly. So, taking care of this might actually improve both stamina and muscle growth.

First things first, your diet plays a crucial role. You want to support your agni by consuming warm, nourishing, and easily digestible foods. Think about including ghee, warm milk, soups and stews—these are very sattvic and help to balance Vata. Avoid cold, raw foods and drinks as they can aggrevate Vata and weaken agni. Make sure to eat at regular intervals — not skipping meals.

Morning exercise is best when the sun brings natural heat; you may want to do light jogging and then gradually build up intensity over weeks not days. Ensure you are breathing through your nose, as this enhances O2 intake and keeps energy flowing. Don’t forget rest: a good 7-8 hours is essential. Set up a relaxing bedtime routine—like listening to calming music or reading a soothing book—so you get quality sleep which is very repairing.

Herbal supplements such as Ashwagandha and Shatavari can be beneficial for stamina and muscle growth; but consult an expert for the right dosage. Even a small amount of Chyawanprash in the morning boosts immunity. Pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom, will also play a crucial role in improving your breathing capacity. Just do this daily for 5-10 minutes.

Lastly, ground yourself by using warming, earthy oils like sesame for abhyanga (self-massage) before showering, which enhances circulation and balances Vata. Remember, Ayurveda is about patience, time and consistency to see substantial changes.
