I am struggling with some major acidity and gas issues lately. It started months ago, like at first I thought it was just something I ate, but it became almost a daily thing. I get this burning sensation in my chest, and then boom, the bloating hits me. I've tried different foods and even some antacids, but they're not really helping much. I read somewhere that curd is good for acidity and gas, but I’m not sure if that’s true or just one of those myths floating around. I typically don’t eat diary too much, because I heard it can be heavy on the stomach and then I worry about the gas even more! Can anyone share if curd is good for acidity and gas from their own experience? I mean, should I be adding it in my diet or would that just make things worse? Kinda scared to try it honestly, but I’ve heard some great things about probiotics in curd and how they can help digestion. Anyone have some insight?

Adding a pinch of asafoetida (hing) can also be particularly helpful in reducing gas formation.

It’s crucial not to mix curd with sour fruits or citrus foods, as they can turn it heavy on the stomach. Opt instead for lukewarm dishes like kadhi, a traditional blend of curd and chickpea flour with spices, which is lighter and easier on digestion.

It’s crucial, however, to monitor how your body reacts to curd. Not every body responds the same; some people may have a mild lactose intolerance leading to increased gas. As you are already cautious of dairy, you should start with small quantities to observe any changes. If you notice adverse effects, it may be prudent to consider other alternatives rich in probiotics, such as buttermilk or fermented ricewater, taken with supportive spices.
