Burning sensation on stomachhhh - #25814

Md Emran
FREE

I have been experiencing a burning sensation specifically on the skin of the lower right side of my abdomen. Please note that the burning is only on the outer surface of the skin, not inside the stomach. It feels like a nerve-related irritation, especially noticeable when the skin touches clothing or is gently pressed. There is no pain deep inside, just a surface-level burning sensation.

Experiencing a localized burning sensation on the skin’s surface can sometimes indicate a minor nerve irritation or inflammation. From an Ayurvedic perspective, it may be aligned with a Pitta imbalance, where excessive heat or internal dryness can manifest as skin discomfort.

Here are some tailored suggestions that may help soothe this condition: Firstly, consider applying a cooling paste to the affected area. Sandalwood paste, mixed with a little rose water, is known for its cooling and soothing properties—apply gently and let it dry before washing off. Turmeric, with its anti-inflammatory properties, can be added if the skin is not too sensitive.

For internal balance, dietary adjustments may be beneficial. Include more cooling foods like cucumber, watermelon, and leafy greens in your meals. Try to steer clear of very spicy, sour, or salty foods, as these can exacerbate Pitta and possibly increase the burning sensation. Curd or yogurt can be cooling too, but make sure its fresh and not too sour.

Hydration is key, aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Herbal teas such as chamomile or peppermint can be soothing and beneficial for calming the mind and reducing stress, which can also aggravate skin issues.

Practicing daily Abhyanga (oil massage) with coconut oil can help improve nerve health by nourishing the skin and gently balancing aggravated doshas. Massage lightly in circular motions, focusing on the affected area.

If the burning sensation continues, or if you notice new symptoms like rash, swelling or intense pain, consulting a healthcare professional is essential to rule out any serious underlying conditions. For immediate relief, these approaches should be practical and easily integrated. If discomfort persists, professional guidance should not be delayed.
