Considering your condition, it’s crucial to follow the advice of the cardiology team since significant coronary artery blockage can be serious. In the context of diabetes and potential stent placement, there are a few options generally considered, such as: Drug Eluting Stent (DES), which are often preferred for diabetic patients due to their reduced risk of restenosis (re-narrowing of the artery), compared to bare metal stents. Within DES, there are various types manufactured by different companies, each with its own specific drug coating designed to prevent scar tissue growth in the artery lining. The choice among these might depend more on the specific recommendation of your treating cardiologist who would consider your overall health profile, response to medication, and the anatomy of your blockage.

Alongside deciding which stent to use, it’s important to integrate Ayurvedic wisdom into your post-procedure care, especially given your diabetic condition. Diabetes as known in Ayurveda is linked with ‘Madhumeha,’ a kapha and vata imbalance. Focusing on managing blood sugar levels is crucial. Attention to diet is vital: prefer a light, easily digestible diet, having regular meals to maintain steady insulin response. Bitter, astringent, and pungent tastes help manage diabetes—these can be included in the form of bitter gourd juice or fenugreek seeds. Also, maintaining regular physical activity that’s safe for your cardiac condition is crucial.

Post angioplasty, adhere strictly to the prescribed medications and follow-up appointments. With diabetes, wound healing might take a bit longer and proper care here is essential. Ayurveda suggests promoting healing by ensuring balanced Agni (digestive fire), keeping stress at a manageable level with relaxation techniques like yoga or gentle pranayama. For comprehensive wellbeing and faster recovery, sleep is crucial.

Engage with your cardiologist regularly to monitor your heart condition and adjust lifestyle choices accordingly. They are best positioned to guide the finer details regarding medical interventions like stenting.

Given the consideration of with the 80-90% RCA blockage you mentioned, the recomendation for angioplasty and possibly stent placement seems sensible. In such situations, timely intervention is important to prevent complications. Although my expertise is in Siddha-Ayurveda, I’d emphasize that in cases like this, modern interventional procedures can be crucial.

For a diabetic patient, the type of stent can impact long-term outcomes. Drug-eluting stents (DES) are often recommended as they release medication that helps prevent the artery from becoming blocked again. With diabetes, there’s a higher risk of restenosis, so DES can be particularly beneficial. However, specific type and brand should be decided by your cardiologist, based on the patient’s health profile and potential risks—always discuss your queries with them to make an informed choice.

Meanwhile, to complement medical treatment, maintaining balance in your doshas through diet and lifestyle is vital for overall health. Focus on a Kapha-pacifying diet to support cardiovascular health and manage weight. Limiting sugar and refined carbs helps manage diabetes; include whole grains, legumes, and plenty of fresh vegetables. Practice regular, gentle activities like yoga to improve circulation without strain.

Ensure to maintain regular follow-ups with your healthcare providers, keep track of blood sugar levels, and discuss any Ayurvedic practices with your doctor to ensure they’re safe and appropriate in conjunction with conventional treatments.
