Experiencing bitterness in the mouth could relate to several underlying factors, particularly involving your digestive system. Given your type 2 diabetes and hypertension, it’s essential to approach this with careful steps.

Firstly, let’s consider the aspect of “Pitta Dosha” imbalances. Bitter taste in mouth can often arise from excess Pitta, which is related to the heat and metabolic transformation in the body. Drinking herbal teas such as coriander or fennel tea might help cool the system. Prepare it by boiling 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds in a cup of water, then simmer for 10 minutes. Drink it warm, especially after meals.

Since diabetes suggests “Kapha” imbalance, promoting a good digestive fire or agni helps. Triphala, a classical Ayurvedic remedy, can be beneficial. It might aid with detoxification and regularize digestion, thereby addressing the underlying imbalance. Take half teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water before bedtime can be effective.

Considering your daily lifestyle is equally important. Ensure you’re engaging in mild exercise suitable for your health condition. Gentle yoga or walking enhances circulation and supports digestion, helping reduce bitterness. Avoid heating and spicy foods, as they exacerbate Pitta. Favor cooling, easily digestible foods like rice porridge or light dals.

Also, since your condition involves multiple systemic factors, check with a healthcare professional managing your diabetes and blood pressure for potential medication adjustment. Some drugs could alter taste sensation. Assessing your oral hygiene too is beneficial, as tartar or gum issues can lead to unfavorable tastes.

Finally, prioritize staying hydrated. Warm water sips throughout the day can cleanse tastes and keep things balanced. If these suggestions don’t alleviate the bitterness or it worsens, seeking specific medical investigation is recommended to rule out other potential cause such as liver function alterations or gastritis.

Experiencing a persistent bitterness in the mouth can often be linked to an imbalance in the digestive system, particularly involving the pitta dosha. This can be exacerbated by your existing conditions, such as Type 2 Diabetes and hypertension. High pitta may lead to issues with agni, or digestive fire, contributing to an altered taste perception.

One approach is to first ensure your diet is not aggravating pitta further. Aim to incorporate cooling, sweet, and bitter foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, and asparagus. Avoid excessively spicy, salty, and fatty foods, as they could elevate pitta levels more. You might benefit from adding coriander and mint in your meals, which can help cool and balance the digestive processes while alleviating bitterness.

As diabetes is involved, it’s crucial to monitor blood sugar levels and ensure they remain stable. You may consider Ayurvedic herbs such as Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Triphala. Guduchi is known to assist in balancing pitta and has positive effects on metabolic processes, while Triphala can gently detoxify and support digestive health. It’s wise to consult with a healthcare provider before starting these herbs, especially given your existing conditions.

Hydration with warm water through the day with a few drops of lemon can support digestion and may reduce bitterness. Practicing pranayama like Sheetali (a cooling breath) for 5-10 minutes daily might be beneficial.

Should this sensation persist or develop into something more frequent or intense, please consult with an allopathic or Ayurvedic healthcare professional directly. Bitter taste sometimes indicates underlying medical conditions that need further exploration.
