For managing hyperthyroidism symptoms in conjunction with your current medical treatment, Ayurveda offers complementary approaches that may support your overall well-being. It’s important to work alongside your healthcare provider, especially when conventional treatments are involved.

Considering your symptoms, an imbalance of Pitta could be contributing to your condition. Reduce Pitta-aggravating elements in your diet and lifestyle. Prioritize cooling, soothing foods such as cucumbers, melons, sweet fruits, and leafy greens. Avoid spicy, sharp, and oily foods that might increase heat in the body. Instead, opt for naturally cooling spices like coriander, fennel, and mint.

For tremors and palpitations, try taking Ashwagandha, known for its adaptogenic properties that might help in calming the nervous system. Start with a small dose, like 1/2 teaspoon, mixed in warm milk or water, preferably in the evening.

Sensitivity to heat suggests the need for Pitta pacifying activities. Include engaging in calming activities such as gentle yoga or pranayama (breath control techniques—sitali and nadi shodhana are great options). Practice these daily—during morning or evening hours, avoiding the heat of the day. Rest and relaxation can balance energy levels and improve sleep.

To mitigate sleep issues, consider an evening routine with warm milk infused with a pinch of nutmeg, which traditionally supports restful sleep naturally. Also, ensuring your room is cool and dimly lit before bed can signal your body that it’s time to wind down.

Your diet should have enough healthy fats like ghee, and coconut oil to support tissue health and manage weight loss. Keep meals regular; skipping meals can exacerbate stress levels and digestion distress.

Pursue regular medical assessments while following Ayurvedic practices to ensure your treatment aligns with current health needs. Consult your healthcare professional before adopting any additional supplements or significant lifestyle changes.

Addressing hyperthyroidism through Ayurveda involves understanding imbalances, particularly in the pitta dosha, which can cause symptoms like palpitations, tremors, heat sensitivity, and sleep issues. While in the situation you mentioned, it’s crucial to keep your healthcare provider aware of any new treatments you explore, Siddha-Ayurveda can offer complementary approaches.

First, focus on calming the pitta dosha. A good starting point is adapting your diet—avoid hot, spicy foods and caffeine, as they can aggravate pitta. Instead, opt for cooling foods like cucumber, melon, spinach, and dairy products. Drink coconut water or aloe vera juice regularly.

To address the palpitations and tremors, you might try Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) as it can help stabilize the mind and reduce stress. Take it in powdered form—around 1 teaspoon with warm water before bedtime. However, if you are already on a propranolol regimen, combining herbs should be done under professional guidance to avoid interactions.

For balancing energy levels and promoting restful sleep, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is worth considering. Again, take it as churna (powder), a teaspoon mixed with warm milk before bed can support energy and calmness.

Routine yoga practices focusing on cooling and calming postures like Shavasana (corpse pose) and Matsyasana (fish pose) can be beneficial. Avoid vigorous exercises; instead, focus on mild stretches or walking.

Lastly, ensure your digestive fire (agni) is not compromised—take Triphala churna to regulate digestion. About half a teaspoon with warm water before sleep can help maintain balance.

Monitor all symptoms closely and seek immediate medical attention if conditions worsen or new severe symptoms arise.
