I’m really sorry to hear about your injury, and I understand how challenging it must be, especially with the added complexity of having polio in your leg. Since your knee ligaments are involved, it’s crucial to prioritize healing while avoiding any strain on the injured area. Ayurveda offers some natural ways that could potentially support the healing process, but it’s important to approach this carefully, especially since you have a pre-existing condition like polio.

Rest and Support: Continue giving your knee enough rest, and avoid putting too much weight on it. You can use a knee brace or support to prevent any unnecessary strain while healing.

Herbal Remedies: Certain Ayurvedic herbs may help promote tissue repair and reduce inflammation. Herbs like ashwagandha, turmeric, guggulu, and boswellia are known for their anti-inflammatory and healing properties. You can take them in the form of tablets or as powders (under the guidance of a practitioner).

External Applications: Ayurvedic oils and pastes can be applied topically to support healing. Mahanarayan oil, Jatyadi oil, or a turmeric and ginger paste might help soothe the area and promote circulation. Applying these with gentle massaging (avoiding pressure on the injured ligament) may help.

Diet: Focus on a diet rich in foods that promote tissue repair. Include protein-rich foods, such as lentils, dairy, and nuts. Bone broth and foods with omega-3 fatty acids like flaxseeds and walnuts can also help with tissue regeneration. Drinking warm water with turmeric can be beneficial for its anti-inflammatory benefits.

Physical Therapy: Since you’ve been resting, the next step after pain and swelling have subsided should be gentle rehabilitation. It’s essential to regain strength and flexibility in the leg gradually. You might want to consult with a physical therapist who specializes in polio recovery to get tailored exercises that won’t exacerbate your injury.

Consult a Doctor: While Ayurveda can support healing, it’s still crucial to follow up with an orthopedic doctor for a full assessment of your knee ligament injury. They may suggest further interventions, like physiotherapy or even imaging, to check the extent of the injury.

Remember, the healing process can take time, especially with an injury that involves both a ligament tear and polio. The goal is to support the body while ensuring that you don’t rush the recovery process, which could lead to re-injury.

I m wearing braces from the 2nd day of injury…now I started walking on walker too …bt can’t walk on my own…so wanted to ask…I m already taking meda lakdi nd aamba halad powder wid milk mng nd night…so is thr is other medicine too which I can take for tissues to repair little fast

Healing a ligament tear, especially wiht the complexity of polio, needs to be handled carefully. You’ve been on rest for 25 days, which is good, and it’s a promising sign that you don’t have pain or swelling. But still not able to walk means the ligament might be taking its sweet time to heal. Ayurveda can certainly offer support during recovery, but make sure you also stay in touch with your orthopedic doctor.

First off let’s chat about diet. Foods that are nourishing and easy to digest will be super beneficial. Think about warm, cooked veggies, whole grains like cooked rice, and soups - they’re gentle on the digestion but provide energy too. Add turmeric to your meals as it has anti-inflammatory properties, helping the body heal from the inside. Don’t forget ghee, known as clarified butter, it helps strengthen the dhatus (tissues) and gives a boost to the healing process!

Try Mahanarayan oil for external massage, gently around the knee not directly over the injury. Daily, warm it a bit before applying - warmth adds extra benefits! Keep it on for about 30 minutes and follow up with a warm water compress.

Breathing exercises can boost your agni, the digestive fire and circulation too. Try Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) for 5-10 minutes every day. It’s calming and encourages healing energy to flow.

Rest is crucial, as is gradual movement once your doc gives the green light. Ayurveda values balance - so it’s about bachachy you finding that point where you engage with your body without straining it.

Keep in mind, your condition with polio may affect recovery speed. So, alongside these Ayurveda remedies, continue regular checkups with your healthcare provider. Give your body the time it needs, and allow yourself to go slow.
