Namaste, A persistent sour taste in the throat, chest heaviness, and discomfort for a long time may be related to chronic acidity or acid reflux, where stomach acid repeatedly moves upward into the food pipe. Simple measures that may help: Eat small, frequent meals instead of heavy meals. Avoid very spicy, fried, sour foods, tea, coffee, and late-night eating. Do not lie down immediately after meals; keep a gap of about 2–3 hours. Include light and easily digestible foods such as rice, moong dal, boiled vegetables, and buttermilk with roasted cumin. Manage stress and maintain regular sleep, as stress can worsen acidity symptoms. Since you have had these symptoms for many years and medicines are not helping, it is also important to continue follow-up with your doctor for proper evaluation. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support acid balance include: Avipattikar Churna – traditionally used to support digestion and reduce burning and acidity. Kamdudha Ras – sometimes used to help soothe gastric irritation. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Symptoms like sour taste in throat chest heaviness and recurrent chest discomfort for a long time usually indicate chronic acidity with reflux where aggravated pitta and weak digestive fire allow acid to move upward toward the throat and chest When this continues for years the stomach lining and food pipe become sensitive and symptoms start recurring frequently even when medicines are taken In Ayurveda this condition is commonly related to urdhwaga amlapitta where pitta and ama disturb digestion and move upward causing sour belching throat irritation heaviness in chest and burning sensation Long standing irregular eating habits late night meals excessive spicy sour food tea coffee and stress can gradually weaken the digestive system and maintain this cycle Diet correction is very important Eat meals at regular times avoid overeating and avoid very late dinners Reduce spicy fried oily sour foods pickles excess chilli tomato sauce vinegar tea coffee and carbonated drinks Prefer simple warm foods like rice moong dal khichdi soft vegetables gourds pumpkin and small quantity of ghee Avoid lying down immediately after food and keep a gap of at least two to three hours before sleep For herbal support Avipattikar churna half teaspoon after lunch and dinner with lukewarm water helps reduce acidity and regulate pitta in the stomach Kamdudha ras plain one tablet twice daily after food can help calm gastric irritation and reduce burning and sour reflux Sutshekhar ras without gold one tablet twice daily after meals can support digestion and help reduce upward movement of acid and pitta Drinking thin buttermilk after lunch with roasted cumin powder can improve digestion and reduce heaviness in the chest region Along with medicines maintaining proper meal timing avoiding late night eating and keeping digestion stable is very important With consistent diet regulation and pitta balancing medicines the frequency of sour taste chest heaviness and reflux symptoms usually starts reducing gradually over time If chest pain becomes severe radiates to arm or jaw or is associated with breathlessness immediate medical evaluation is necessary to rule out cardiac causes otherwise most chronic reflux related symptoms respond well to digestive and pitta balancing care in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda this occurs due to vitiation of Pitta dosha with involvement of vata, leading to excessive acidic secretions and upward movement of gastric contents DISEASE CORRELATION Mostly with -Amlapitta (chronic hyeracidity/reflux) -sometimes associated with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) PATHOGENESIS -pitta aggravation from improper diet -weak digestive fire -formation od Vidagdha amla pitta -upward movement due to aggravated vata Symptoms -sour belching -acid taste in throat -chest heaviness -burning chest pain AYURVEDIC TREATMENT INTERNAL MEDICATION MORNING EMPTY STOMACH -Avipattikar churna= 1 tsp with warm water =reduces acid and improves digestion -Kamdudha ras= 250mg twice daily after meals with honey =excellent for acid reflux AFTER MEALS -Sutsekhar ras= 125 mg twice daily after meals =best medicine for chronic hyperacidity -Praval pishti= 250 m twice daily after meals with honey =cooling effect on stomach AT BEDTIME -Yashitmadhu powder= 1/2 tsp with warm milk =heals gastric mucosa DIET VERY IMPORTANT -boiled vegetables -rice + moong dal -coconut water -buttermilk with roasted cumin -pomegranate -ripe banana AVOID COMPLETELY -tea, coffee excess -spicy food -fried food -sour pickles -tomato ketchup -carbonated drinks -alcohol -smoking LIFESTYLE ADVICE -eat meals on same time -eat small frequent meals -sleep before 11 pm -walk after meals -practice yoga AVOID -sleeping immediately after meals -late night eatin -stress and anger -lon fasting YOGA AND PRANAYAM -vajrasana after meals -pawanmuktasana -anulom vilom -sheetali pranayam These reduces acid production and improve digestion HOME REMEDIES 1) JEERA-DHANIYA WATER= drink twice daily 2) AMLA JUICE= 20ml daily with water With proper Ayurvedic treatment + diet control , chronic reflux usually improves within 4-8 weeks DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU
