Likely cause This looks like Urdhva Jatrugata Roga (throat–ear involvement), mainly due to: Pitta + Kapha aggravation Recent throat infection spreading to ear (Eustachian connection) Possible reduced immunity (Vyadhikshamatva) at age 68 The pain is unlikely due to sciatica medicines directly, but some medicines may have increased Pitta (heat), aggravating throat irritation. Why throat + ear pain together? Throat and ear are connected → infection/inflammation in throat can radiate to ear Difficulty swallowing + severe pain → indicates acute inflammation Important warning signs (present in your case) Severe pain Difficulty swallowing Low energy This suggests active infection (like tonsillitis/pharyngitis or ear involvement) Immediate Ayurvedic management 1. For throat relief Warm water gargle with turmeric + pinch salt (2–3 times daily) Sip warm coriander + licorice (mulethi) water 2. For Pitta control Avoid spicy, sour, fried food Give soft, warm diet (khichdi, soups) 3. For ear–throat soothing Steam inhalation (plain or with ajwain) once daily Medicines Yashtimadhu (mulethi) powder – soothing for throat Sitopaladi churna (mild, non-irritating) Godanti bhasma (if feverish feeling) (Avoid strong heating medicines currently)
