What to do if my 17-year-old son has IBS-D and is experiencing pain during bowel movements with little stool production? - #55116
My Son has just turned 17. He was having freequent motion problem for which we consulted a doctor who diagnosed and said it is IBS-D. After two month, lot of tests, and allopathy medicines from the high profile doctors when no relief was experienced I took him to an Ayurvedic doctor. From the ayurvedic medicines what has become is the amount of stool has reduced but not the urge. He feels pain for going to pass the stool but either it does not come or comes very less, but it is causing him pain. Is the treatment going right? Will he recover from this problem?

Yes, many IBS-D patients improve slowly with proper Ayurvedic treatment, diet control, and stress management. Since stool quantity reduced, treatment may be partially working, but pain with urge and incomplete evacuation suggests bowel irritation and Apana Vata imbalance is still present. Ayurvedic treatment: Kutajghan Vati 2 tablets twice daily after food Bilwadi Churna 3 gm with warm water twice daily Takra Kalp fresh buttermilk with roasted jeera after lunch daily If pain and straining are more Hingvashtak Churna 1 gm with first morsel of food twice daily Diet Avoid spicy food, bakery items, cold drinks, excess milk, junk food Give soft rice, moong dal, pomegranate, banana, boiled vegetables Small frequent meals Sleep properly and reduce anxiety/stress
The ayurvedic medicines the doctor prescribed to him: 1) Krimi kuthar 2 tabs morning evening 2) bowel care of organic 2-2 capsules morning evening 3) dadi mashtak churan 4) flora saunte tou is good Ealrier he was given kutajparapat 2 tabs morning - evening and shankhavati 2 tabs morning evening which caused constipation to my son. since the constipation like symptoms persits i asked the doc to review it then she reduced the bowel care cap from 2 to 1 BDS
okay reduce don’t worry
I notice a difference between the medicines you prescribed and the doctor I consulted. you have suggested simple kutajghan vati, bilwadi churan simple, while the other doctor has prescribed the branded medicines. I rewrite the symptoms here so you can finally guide which medicines should I go with.
he goes around 12 times a day. Before medicines it was no constipation but after the ayurvedic medicines the urges have not reduced only it has become hard for him to pass out the stool.
Kindly suggest me a better route

First use the medicine and diet is also important, then good results will come.
Kindly confirm - should I use your prescription or of the doctor already consulting?
It’s your wish madam but I said I will not use another doctor’s prescription
Hey mam I am Dr.harsh khandelwal I am ready out your son problem first of all know the disease of IBS •In Ayurveda, this presentation closely aligns with Grahani Roga, specifically the Vata-Pitta variant, where the digestive fire (Agni) is weakened, leading to intestinal hypersensitivity, malabsorption, and altered bowel habits •In Ayurveda, the gut is treated like a delicate fire. We must rekindle it without burning it out. •The “Takra” Protocol: Buttermilk (Takra) is considered the best medicine for IBS-D. It is Deepana (kindles Agni) and Grahi (absorbs excess moisture while binding stool). Preparation: Whisk curd with 4 parts water, remove the froth (fat), and add a pinch of roasted cumin powder, black salt, and ginger powder. Medication 1. Kutajghan vati 1BD after food with normal water ( if you have loose stool) 2. Bilvadi churn 1 tsf BD with buttermilk after food ( if you have hard stool) 3. Gangadhar churn 1 tsf BD with normal water after food This is the full line of treatment of IBS you can follow this line of treatment and after 10 days follow up me…
