How to use Shilajit resin safely for an 84-year-old with diabetes and hypertension? - #55161
Lured by a beautiful advert about Shilaji Resin I have purchased one unit. I have diabetes absolutely under control and I take tablets to control hypertension. I am 84 years old but I do a lot of exercise, walking in particular and am quite fit. My question is : when to take this shilajit, how much? and will I have any side effects?
Doctors' responses
At 84 years of age, with well-controlled diabetes and hypertension, Shilajit resin should be used very carefully and only in a small dose. In Ayurveda, Shilajit is considered a powerful Rasayana that supports strength, stamina, energy, and healthy aging when used properly. How to take it safely: Start with a very small amount — about a rice grain to pea-sized portion (100–200 mg) once daily. Take it in the morning after breakfast with lukewarm water or milk. Avoid taking it on an empty stomach initially. Use for 6–8 weeks, then take a short break. Possible benefits: May help improve energy, recovery, vitality, and overall wellness. Can support metabolism and reduce age-related fatigue. Possible side effects if overused or impure: Burning sensation, acidity, dizziness, loose motions, increased body heat, or palpitations. Some commercial products may contain impurities or heavy metals, so use only a pure and trusted brand. Important precautions: Since you are taking medicines for diabetes and blood pressure, monitor your blood sugar and BP regularly, as Shilajit may enhance their effects in some people. Stop immediately if you notice weakness, sweating, low sugar symptoms, rapid heartbeat, or stomach discomfort. Avoid combining with alcohol or excessive spicy food.
