What to do for constipation and stomach extension after eating wild leeks for 2 days? - #55441
Never had constipation. Now for 2 days constipation stomach extension after eating wild leeks (Ramps)
Doctors' responses
Wild leeks/ramps can cause gas, bloating and abdominal distension in some people because they are in the onion/garlic family and are high in fermentable fibers. Constipation for 2 days after a new food is usually not dangerous if symptoms are mild. —Stop ramps/wild leeks for now. Drink warm water frequently. Eat light: moong dal khichdi, soup, cooked vegetables, avoid fried/spicy food. Walk 10–15 min after meals. If no stool: take Isabgol 1 tsp in warm water at night
Wild leeks (ramps) are strong, pungent, and heating in nature. In some people, especially when eaten in excess, they can temporarily disturb digestion and aggravate Vata, leading to constipation, gas, bloating, and abdominal fullness. Since your symptoms started after eating them and are only for 2 days, this may be a temporary digestive imbalance. Ayurvedic Care Drink warm water frequently throughout the day Take light, warm foods like rice soup, khichdi, or cooked vegetables Avoid raw foods, fried items, excess spices, and cold drinks for 1–2 days Gentle walking after meals helps release trapped gas Helpful Home Remedies At bedtime: 1 tsp ghee in warm milk or warm water Or take warm water with a small pinch of ajwain and saunf after meals A mild herbal support like Triphala at night may help regulate bowels naturally
