Hi Nicki,

Can you tell me if the stomach pain and nausea worsen after eating certain foods, or if it is more related to stress or time of day? Are you also experiencing bloating, acid reflux, or any changes in your bowel movements? Do you feel more fatigued than usual?

In Ayurveda, these symptoms could indicate an imbalance in Pitta dosha, leading to digestive discomfort and inflammation. I recommend using Triphala for gentle detox and improving digestion. Aloe Vera juice and Cumin can help soothe the stomach lining. A diet focused on light, warm, and easily digestible foods, like soups and stews, may also support healing. You may want to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized approach based on your condition.

Your symptoms do suggest a possible issue related to digestive imbalance, often linked in Ayurveda to an aggravated Pitta dosha. Given the symptoms and the tests you’ve undergone, it’s crucial to keep monitoring with your doctor to rule out any serious underlying conditions, especially since you’re experiencing weight loss.

In the realm of Ayurveda, focusing on balancing the Pitta dosha and enhancing Agni (digestive fire) can be beneficial. Here are few recommendations that might help:

First, your diet plays a significant role in managing gastric problems. Opt for cooling and soothing foods that can help pacify Pitta. Include plenty of cooked vegetables like zucchini, carrots, and pumpkin. Avoid hot, spicy, and oily foods as they tend to aggravate the dosha.

Second, drink herbal teas made from ingredients like coriander seeds, fennel seeds, and licorice root. These have cooling properties and can aid digestion. You could steep a teaspoon of these seeds in hot water and sip after meals.

Probiotics are helpful to maintain gut health. You can include a small amount of naturally fermented foods like homemade yogurt or sauerkraut. Just be mindful of the quantity as excess can sometimes lead to bloating.

Include light exercises like walking or gentle yoga. Physical activity promotes healthy digestion and helps in managing stress, which can worsen gastric issues.

Practice pranayama (breathing exercises) like Anulom Vilom or Nadi Shodhana. These can help bring balance to the body’s energy and improve digestion over time.

Your thyroid medication may interact with digestion, so keep your healthcare provider in the loop with everything you’re trying. Also, keep an eye on your breath and fatigue levels. If you continue experiencing unexplained weight loss or worsening symptoms, more immediate medical attention is necessary.

While Ayurveda provides a holistic approach, always prioritize any medical advice prescribed by your doctor in complex cases such as yours.
