The condition you’re describing is indeed concerning and it’s good that you’ve been under medical care. In Ayurveda, we focus on balancing the doshas and optimizing your lifestyle and diet to support your recovery. However, given the seriousness of pulmonary embolism, it’s vital to continue with your prescribed treatment plan.

For the burning sensation in your left thigh, which might be related to circulation or nerve irritation, some Ayurvedic strategies could possibly provide releif. Ensure you’re discussing these with your healthcare provider, especially since you’re on blood thinners.

First, consider incorporating herbs like Ashwagandha and Turmeric, which may help in reducing inflammation and improving circulation. Ashwagandha powder can be taken half a teaspoon with warm milk once daily. Turmeric can be added to your meals or taken as a supplement, but given you’re on thinners, consult with your doctor to ensure it doesn’t interact.

Inclusion of Triphala may optimize digestion and help eliminate toxins. You can take it in a warm water at night, about half a teaspoon. However, patience is key as herbal treatments usually take time to show results.

Gently massage your thigh with Mahanarayan or sesame oil, which can improve circulation and alleviate discomfort. Be cautious and gentle on the pressure, and if you notice any change in symptoms, like increased swelling or pain, re-evaluate with your doctor.

Yoga practices like gentle stretching and pranayama (breathing exercises) may support better oxygenation and help in improving blood flow. Poses like Tadasana and Shavasana can be practiced daily for 5-10 minutes, but again, modified as per comfort.

Focus on a diet that supports your body’s healing, which would include light, nutritious meals with plenty of leafy greens, fruits, and whole grains. Avoidance of excessively heavy or oily foods will support agni (digestive fire) and discourage ama (toxins).

Given the severity of pulmonary embolism, make sure any new modification in your routine, is shared with your cardiologist or physician to ensure they are safe considering your condition and ongoing treatment with anticoagulants. Keep monitoring any changes in symptoms and never hesitate to reach emergency help if necessary. This blend of modern and traditional approach may assist, but never replace your conventional treatment.
