does shilajit increase blood pressure - #25004

Chloe

I am really worried about something and hope you guys can help me out. I recently started taking shilajit because I heard it's supposed to be packed with all these benefits, like boosting energy and helping with overall health, you know? But ever since I started using it, my head's been feeling kinda weird, almost like pressure-building up, but not really a headache, more like an intensity or something. I get these sudden bouts where my heart feels a bit faster than normal too and I'm wondering, does shilajit increase blood pressure? I talked to my friend who swears by it, and she says it's great, but now I’m really questioning if it’s doing more harm than good for me. Had my blood pressure checked the other day, and it was a little on the high side, but I thought maybe it’s just stress? Can anyone here share experiences or if you think I should stop taking shilajit until I figure this out? Really appreciate any thoughts!

The question of whether shilajit increases blood pressure is quite relevant. Shilajit is renowned in Ayurveda for its rejuvenating and adaptogenic properties, often used to enhance energy, stamina, and overall vitality. However, its effects can vary significantly depending on your individual constitution, or prakriti, and the unique balance of your doshas.

Although shilajit is generally considered safe, it’s essential to monitor how your body responds to it. The sensations of intensity or increased heart rate you describe could be your body signaling something’s off. While shilajit isn’t typically known to increase blood pressure, everyone reacts differently, and individual sensitivities can play a big role. It can indirectly affect BP by increasing energy and metabolic rate, which might occasionally lead to temporary spikes in heart rate or blood pressure in some people.

Since you’ve experienced a high blood pressure reading, and you’re feeling these concerning symptoms, it might be wise to pause shilajit consumption. It’s important to listen to your body’s signals and ensure you’re not contributing to any imbalance. In Ayurveda, maintaining balance is key, and an herb or supplement beneficial for one person may not have the same effect on another due to different prakritis or current health states.

While you stop the shilajit, want to address stress and potential underlying tension. Incorporating calming practices into your routine, such as yoga or pranayama can be supportive. A balanced diet avoiding overly salty or processed foods might help stabilize blood pressure levels as well.

Before resuming shilajit or considering other supplements, consult with a healthcare provider or Ayurvedic practitioner, especially given your raised blood pressure readings. They can provide more personalized guidance considering your health history, symptoms, and other medications or conditions you might have. Maintain routine check-ups to monitor your blood pressure and ensure harmony in your well-being.
