Hello Imran, Constipation is of various types with different causative factors. Do you have hard stools or no urge or non-satisfactory stools? Also Triphala can dry the intestines if taken excessively. You can try home remedies like - Boiled water with black raisins, drink the water along with raisins. Have a bowl of ripe papaya everyday. Include spinach, dill leaves, wild yam, prunes, figs, black raisins in diet everyday. Have water boiled with coriander, fennel and cumin seeds. Eat in both meals softly cooked rice added with ghee along with more of curry and vegetable. Avoid roti/chapati. Have buttermilk in lunch added with ajwain.

Constipation, especially in individuals with hypertension, can be linked to lifestyle factors and requires a holistic approach for relief. While Triphala is generally effective for regulating bowel movements, if it hasn’t resolved your issue, there may be underlying factors such as diet, hydration, or stress. To manage this, I recommend incorporating a fiber-rich diet that includes fresh fruits like papaya and guava, as well as vegetables and whole grains. Staying hydrated is crucial, so drink plenty of warm water throughout the day, especially after waking up. Herbal formulations like Avipattikar Churna can help with constipation and acidity, and Triphala Ghrita may be more effective than regular Triphala tablets. You could also try Psyllium husk (Isabgol) at night with warm water or milk for softer stools. Additionally, regular abdominal oil massages (Abhyanga) with warm sesame oil can stimulate digestion. Establish a consistent routine for bowel movements, preferably early in the morning, and avoid suppressing the urge. Given that you have hypertension, managing stress through Pranayama (breathing exercises) such as Anulom Vilom can also support digestion and overall well-being.

Constipation can be pretty frustrating, I get it. Looks like you’re already on the right track with Triphala, it’s often helpful for bowel movement. But it seems like it’s not hitting the spot for you, huh? So, let’s see what else can be done.

First off, it’s important to understand your digestion a bit more - what’s called ‘agni’ in Ayurveda. Weak agni can lead to constipation. Maybe try to start the day with a cup of warm water, with a bit of lemon juice squeezed in. It can help with kickstarting the digestion. Also, if you ain’t drinking enough water throughout the day, well, that might be worsening the problem. Aim for about 3 litres spread through day, but listen to your body.

Diet-wise, reach for foods that are easier on the stomach, like cooked veggies, whole grains like quinoa or rice, and warm soups. Add ghee in your meal, it’s a good lubricator for the digestive tract. Definitely fiber is your friend, more so if it’s the right kind. Commonly fenugreek seeds soaked overnight and taken in the morning, can work wonders too.

Also, consider your daily routine. Consistency is key - including eating and sleeping schedules. Even a short daily walk can stimulate digestion. A bit of gentle yoga could also be helpful, twists are particularly good for the digestive system.

So about the Triphala, you might want to try a different form, like powder instead of pills. Take around half a teaspoon of it mixed with warm water, before bedtime. It may work better when it gets to your system this way.

Lastly, you might want to consider stress levels or any medications your on—they can impact digestion too. But if it continues to be a struggle, reaching out to a healthcare provider would be wise. Chronic constipation can sometimes indicate other underlying issues that need looking into. Keep watching your body’s signals.
