Improving your daughter’s eyesight can be a multi-faceted approach, especially with Ayurveda, where we look at the body as a whole. Each child has a unique constitution, or prakriti, so it’s crucial to consider her individual needs.
First off, diet plays a key role. Make sure she’s getting foods that nourish the eyes. Foods rich in Vitamin A, like carrots, sweet potatoes, and green leafy vegetables, can be very beneficial. Include ghee in her diet, not only because it’s nutritious but also known in Ayurveda to improve eyesight, maybe just a small spoon with her meals if she’s okay with it. Also, triphala – this is a classical Ayurvedic formulation that can support eye health, but don’t go overboard, a pinch of triphala powdered taken with honey in the night can be enough.
For external application, a gentle eye wash with triphala water can soothe and support eye health. Just boil a little triphala in water, let it cool, and use it. For some, this might be too much, so maybe take it slow and see how she responds.
Lifestyle adjustments are equally important. Encourage her to reduce screen time. Maybe set some fun, non-screen-related activities – anything that reduces strain on the eyes. Eye exercises, like palming (where you gently place palms over the closed eyes to relax them), can be helpful.
Try to put effort into maintain routine. Good sleep is crucial, ensure she’s well-rested each night as it aids in tissue repair and overall health improvement. Stress can affect eyesight, so nurturing a calm environment is key. Encourage outdoor play during daylight hours, as natural light can be good for the eyes.
If she’s facing any severe condition, or there’s no improvement, it’s best kept in touch with a professional or an eye specialist. Ayurveda can supplement conventional treatments, but when it comes to kids’ health, always be vigilant.
