Dealing with regular colds and coughs, especially during winter, can really disrupt life, right? And combined with anxiety, it’s a lot to handle. Based on Ayurveda, these issues might root in an imbalance of your doshas, possibly Vata and Kapha, which tend to aggravate in cold seasons.
Honestly, first thing I’d suggest is, keep your warmth game strong. You wanna stay cozy. Think of sipping warm herbal teas. Something like ginger with a hint of tulsi leaf can do wonders. They’re quite calming and help clear respiratory channels. Aim for about 2-3 cups a day.
Now, about the food part – steer clear from heavy, cold, or oily foods. Warm, light, and easily digestible foods like soups or stews are your best picks. Spices like cinnamon and cardamom can help balance the doshas too.
Regular steam inhalation can aid in easing nasal congestion and headache – just boil water, and lean over the steam with a towel over your head, a couple times a week should help. Careful, it’s hot!
And for the anxiety, since you’re already on medication, complimenting it with some regular pranayama or simple breathing exercises might be beneficial. Simple Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) is quite effective for calming anxiety.
Ensure you have a consistent sleep routine too. Aim for winding down same time each night with, perhaps, some quiet time, reading or soft music, whatever calms you really.
If coughs and colds persist or worsen, or if you feel any different with your anxiety, it’s absolutely crucial to catch up with your healthcare professional. Maybe they can revisit your medication or check for any underlying issues.
Remember, it’s all about tuning into what your body’s telling you, and adjusting accordingly. Take care.
