ashwagandha or shilajit which is better - #38206

Hudson

I am really confused about this whole ashwagandha or shilajit which is better debate. I’ve been hearing so much about both lately! Like, a couple of weeks ago, I started feeling super anxious and just drained all the time. A friend recommended ashwagandha, saying it'll totally help with stress. I tried it, and it was like a wave of chill vibes washed over me! But then, I heard some other folks talking about shilajit and how it gives you energy and helps with focus. I don’t know if I’m supposed to pick one or if they can work together?? I just want to feel "normal" again, not this tired shell of myself. Been really struggling at work and my concentration is just shot. Also, I read somewhere that shilajit can support testosterone levels, and since I've read things about low energy being tied to that, I thought maybe I should try that too?? I guess, what I really want to ask is, is it ashwagandha or shilajit which is better for someone dealing with both anxiety and low energy? Should I just stick with the ashwagandha since it worked quite well? Or am I messing up by not exploring shilajit more? Totally lost here, and would love to hear your insights!

Deciding between ashwagandha and shilajit can indeed be bit confusing, especially when you’re looking to manage both anxiety and low energy levels. Both have unique benefits rooted in traditional ayurvedic practices, and your personal experience with ashwagandha is an indicator of its suitability for your current needs.

Ashwagandha, scientifically known as Withania somnifera, is a powerful adaptogen, which means it helps body manage stress more effectively. It’s renowned for calming the nervous system, reducing anxiety, and improving overall mood. Since you’ve already felt a positive change with ashwagandha for stress, sticking with it may be a good idea. However, it’s important to take note of how your body feels after a few more weeks of consistent use. Usually, a standard dose is around 300-500 mg of a standardized extract, taken twice a day after meals.

On the other hand, shilajit is known as a powerful rejevunator in Ayurveda. Derived from the high altitude rocks of the Himalayas, it contains fulvic acid and minerals, which may help increase energy and improve focus. This could be particularly useful if you’re experiencing fatigue related to low testosterone levels. If you decide to try shilajit, using a purified form is essential, and starting with a low dose, such as 300-400 mg, once a day is advisable.

While these herbs can be used together, monitoring how each affects you is key. For those working demanding jobs or under significant stress, it’s vital to consider enough rest and proper nutrition alongside these supplements. Foods rich in healthy fats, like ghee and avocados, and techniques like pranayama can also enhance energy levels and mental clarity.

Remember, the body responds differently from person to person, so give each approach some time and always listen to any significant changes. If symptoms persist or worsen, consulting with a healthcare provider is essential for personalized advice based tailored to you.
