Considering your GERD symptoms following intermittent fasting, focusing on improving your digestive balance is key. Start by avoiding foods that could worsen your condition, like spicy dishes, caffeine, citrus fruits, fried foods, and tomatoes. Try to eat smaller, more frequent meals to not overburden your stomach at once.

In Ayurveda, your symptoms might suggest an imbalance of Pitta dosha. To help balance this, you should include cooling and soothing foods in your diet. Foods such as cucumber, coconut water, and ripe bananas can be beneficial. Consider drinking warm water with a pinch of coriander after meals to aid digestion.

Elevating the head of your bed by about 6-8 inches can reduce nighttime reflux and help with overall symptoms management. Avoid lying down immediately after eating; give yourself at least two to three hours between your last meal and bedtime.

Ginger tea can be helpful for nausea, although sparingly as it can be warming. Alternatively, chew on some fennel seeds as it can soothe the stomach lining. Chewing gum for half an hour after meals may also help, as it increases saliva production, aiding in neutralizing stomach acid.

Remember, stress can exacerbate GERD, so mindfully managing stress levels through deep breathing exercises or meditation may contribute to symptom relief. If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s essential to prioritize seeking medical consultation despite financial concerns, as these symptoms could indicate other underlying issues. In case of severe pain or difficulty breathing, immediate medical care should be sought.
