how to use triphala churna for eyes - #43070
I am really confused about how to use triphala churna for eyes. I started using it about a month ago because my friend suggested it after I complained about my dry eyes and some irritation. I’ve been kind of consistent with it, but don’t really know if I’m doing it right. Sometimes I just mix a spoonful with water and drink it but I came across some articles that say it could also be used topically? I really want to do this the right way, ya know? My eyes feel tired a lot, especially after staring at screens all day, and I read triphala churna can help with eye health. I also tried boiling it in water and using it as an eye wash, or maybe I’m just making up stuff? Ugh, I don’t know! Should I be looking for something specific, like how many times a day it’s safe to do this or how long it will actually take to see a difference? I went to an eye doctor but they just prescribed drops, and I feel like I want more holistic solutions. My vision is still fine, but these dryness issues are nagging me. Is there any best way or dosage of triphala churna I should stick to for eye health? Help please!

Using triphala churna for eye health certainly makes sense, and it’s a common Ayurvedic practice that can be quite effective, but it needs to be done correctly for safety and best results. Based on classical Ayurvedic understanding, triphala acts as a powerful rejuvenator. It contains three fruits - Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki, which possess potent antioxidant properties.
To address your concern about dry and tired eyes, you can indeed use triphala both internally and topically. Drinking triphala churna mixed with warm water can certainly aid in general detoxification and support ocular health from within. Start with 1/2 teaspoon of triphala churna mixed in warm water, taken once at night. It’s best to consume it at least an hour after dinner for optimal effects.
For topical use, an eye wash is a common method employed in Ayurveda. Make sure to use a very diluted solution to prevent irritation. Boil a teaspoon of triphala in about 500 ml of water until it reduces to half, let it cool, then strain through a fine muslin cloth or strainer. Use this for washing eyes, once or twice a day. Remember, the solution should be completely cooled to room temperature before use.
Keep consistency with whatever method you choose. The benefits of triphala might not be immediate and typically takes a few weeks to a couple of months to be visibly noticed. Monitor your response to the treatment, and adjust if there’s any irritation or discomfort.
While Ayurvedic remedies provide holistic benefits, they should complement, not replace, medical treatments when necessary. Eye dryness from extended screen use can also be alleviated by adopting the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It helps reduce strain.
In any case, if your symptoms don’t improve, revisiting an eye specialist would be wise, as they may provide insights or checks that align with ensuring you’re on a healthy path for your particular concerns.
