Hello, An involuntary loss of weight and a dwindling appetite, even with a normal thyroid profile, suggests that the underlying issue may lie in your digestive fire (Agni) and a metabolic imbalance, which prevents proper tissue nourishment (Dhatu Poshana). In Ayurveda, this state is often viewed as Agnimandya (weak digestive fire) leading to Karshya (emaciation), typically driven by an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas. When Agni is weak, the body cannot convert food into Ahara Rasa (nutrient plasma), making weight gain difficult despite eating. To reverse this cycle, the treatment focus centers on three specific actions: Deepana & Pachana: Igniting the digestive fire and clearing accumulated metabolic toxins (Ama) to revive your natural appetite. Brimhana: Utilizing nourishing, heavy, and grounding therapies to build body mass and promote tissue rejuvenation. Vata Shamana: Calming the erratic Vata dosha, which is responsible for tissue depletion and dryness. Prescription : 1. Dhanwantaram Kwath Action: Balances Vata dosha, strengthens the nervous and skeletal systems, and improves nutrient absorption. Dose: Mix 15 ml of the liquid with 60 ml of lukewarm water. Take this twice daily, 30 minutes before your meals. 2. Dasamoolarishtam Action: A potent fermented elixir that acts as a powerful Deepana (appetite stimulant) and Brimhana (tonifying) agent to help relieve fatigue and boost healthy weight. Dose: Take 15 ml to 20 ml with an equal quantity of water twice daily, immediately after your main meals. 3. Ashwagandhadadi Lehyam Action: A nutrient-rich, semi-solid jam formulated to promote muscle mass, improve strength, and provide the deep nourishment needed for weight gain. Dose: Consume 10 grams (approximately one teaspoon) followed by a cup of warm milk twice daily, either in the morning on an empty stomach or at bed time.

Your symptoms suggest low Agni (digestive fire) + Vata imbalance, which leads to poor appetite, weak digestion, and difficulty gaining weight, even when thyroid is normal. Since this is present for more than 2 years with digestive issues and irregular meals, the root cause is likely malabsorption + weak metabolism, not a hormonal problem. Ayurvedic Approach 1. Improve digestion (first priority) Without strong Agni, weight gain will not happen. Take Trikatu Churna (dry ginger + black pepper + long pepper) → ¼ tsp with honey before meals (once or twice daily) OR Hingvastak Churna → ½ tsp before meals with warm water 2. Strengthen appetite + nourishment Chyawanprash – 1 tsp daily in morning Ashwagandha – helps build strength and body mass → 1 capsule or 3–5 g powder with warm milk at night 3. Diet correction (very important) Eat fixed meal timings daily Prefer warm, cooked, oily, easy-to-digest food Include: rice, ghee, milk, banana, dry fruits Avoid: cold drinks, raw salads, skipping meals 4. Lifestyle support Light walking after meals Proper sleep (very important for weight gain) Reduce stress (Vata aggravation reduces appetite) Expected improvement: Appetite: 2–3 weeks Weight gain: 6–10 weeks with consistency
Weak appetite and difficulty gaining weight despite normal thyroid is commonly related to weak digestion, irregular eating habits, stress, and poor nutrient absorption. Eat meals on time and avoid skipping meals. Include calorie-rich but healthy foods like milk, ghee, bananas, dates, soaked almonds, rice, dal, and homemade nutritious foods. Avoid junk food and excessive tea/coffee. Light exercise and proper sleep also help improve appetite and muscle gain. Ashwagandha churna – 1 teaspoon with warm milk at bedtime Chyawanprash – 1 teaspoon morning daily Shatavari churna – 1 teaspoon with milk once daily Liv 52 syrup/tablet – twice daily before food This can help improve appetite, digestion, energy, and healthy weight gain gradually. Your irregular eating patterns have confused your biological clock and extinguished the digestive enzymes in your gut. Because your Agni is weak, whatever little food you eat is not being converted into nutrition; instead, it ferments and causes your digestive issues. When the body doesn’t get fresh nutrition from food, it starts consuming its own tissues to survive, which is exactly why you are significantly underweight and constantly tired. We cannot simply force you to eat heavy, calorie-dense foods right now. Your weak gut will not be able to digest them. We must first reignite your appetite, fix the digestive block, and then introduce highly absorbing, nourishing herbs to build healthy weight. ✓Ayurvedic Action Plan 1. Chitrakadi Vati Dosage: 2 tablets twice a day. Time: 15 minutes before your lunch and dinner. Vehicle: Sip with a little warm water. This is a potent digestive stimulant. It will actively melt the digestive blockages in your gut, naturally stimulate the secretion of digestive juices and bring back a strong, natural feeling of hunger. 2. Jeerakarishta Dosage: 15 ml of Jeerakarishta with 20 ml of normal water. Time: Twice a day, 30 minutes after your meals. This will soothe your existing digestive issues and ensure your intestines absorb the nutrition. 3. Ashwagandha Avaleha (Start After 15 Days) Dosage: 1 teaspoon once a day. Time: In the morning, with a glass of warm milk. Start this only after taking the above medicines for 15 days (once your appetite has improved). This is a highly nourishing (Brimhana) herbal jam that safely promotes healthy, sustainable weight gain without harming the liver. ✓Crucial Care Rules 1. Strict Meal Timings (Mandatory): Your irregular eating pattern is the root cause of this illness. You must fix your meal times (e.g., breakfast at 8 AM, lunch at 1 PM, dinner at 7 PM) and stick to them every single day. This trains your brain to release digestive enzymes at the correct times. 2. The Ginger Primer: 15 minutes before your main meals, chew a small, thin slice of fresh ginger with a tiny pinch of rock salt (Saindhava Namak). This acts as a natural ignition switch for your weak appetite. 3. Stop Cold and Dry Foods: Avoid raw salads, cold drinks, and dry snacks (like crackers or biscuits). Your gut needs warmth and moisture to heal. Eat warm, freshly cooked meals and ensure you add 1 to 2 teaspoons of pure Cow’s Ghee to your dal or vegetables to provide healthy, lubricating calories. Hello dear, as your report are normal, i think you should focus more in diet and lifestyle changes rather than medicine. Firstly fix your timings of food and sleep, it’s very important. It will definitely help you in improving appetite and energy level because our body works in circadian rhythm. Try early dinner atleast before 7:30 pm. Walk 200 steps or vajrasan 5-10 min after each meal which increases blood flow towards abdomen which helps in proper digestion and absorption of food. Try to do yoga or other stretching exercise and pranayam in morning for atleast 30 mins. Then you can take 15-20 soaked black raisins which helps you relieve in constipation, improves digestion and is considered nourishing food in Ayurveda. Try to take warm, freshly prepared home based food, avoid processed, packed refrigerated food or drinks, curd. Avoid chilled water. You can take nape in afternoon after 2 hour of eating it will increase your weight as per Ayurveda. Do full body massage with seasame oil or chanadan bala lakshadi oil if possible in morning before yoga or atleast do foot massage at night for 10 minutes. All these will help you balancing your vata and strenghthen your digestive capacity, ultimately helps you in the your weight and energy level.
